On my visit I discovered the room was small and cluttered. There was no clear path to the bathroom. My loved one had no access to a tv without walking or rolling her wheelchair up a steep ramp. Neither could she get to the dining room without having the same problem. I was unimpressed with the tone of voice of the staff serving at snack time. No one offered her a snack as we visited in the living room. When I wheeled her to get something, they had run out. I asked if there was another beverage available and was told "well we have water". On further insistence, we managed to get her some juice. I found my family member pretty discouraged but still trying to make the best of this situation. I applauded her perseverence to try to find the good here. I am a rehab nurse and do some teaching in Assisted Livings. I know she would never complain to the staff. Indeed she never complained of a thing to me (except about the food which many new residents have trouble getting used to in similar institutions). In general, I was greatly saddened by her presence there. In my professional opinion there is much room for improvement. I found her situation very depressing and will keep close watch.Provider Response
Rockwell is an old home with alot of space in the house. There are many rooms and all have bathrooms with 3 main bathrooms scattered throughout the home. The home provides snacks and beverages to the residents and is never without food or snack of some sort. This might be a good opportunity to discuss your review with the staff and make sure they know of the access to the food and beverages available after the chef leaves. The home offers residents the ability to have tv service in their room or there are two main rooms with tv one on lower level and one on the upper level which is accessible via help of the staff if they are unable or too weak to transfer throughout the home independently. Your feedback is very much appreciated and helpful for our homes to improve on. I will share the comments with staff and welcome your next visit.
