Springhill in Erie has good activities, good therapy, and good care. I looked at their assisted living and they have daily activities like bingo, music therapy, and card games. They also have church services and they always have something to do every day. It's very, very clean, easy to get around, and they have very good staff.

My parents will be moving into Springhill. It's a very nice community, very nice environment, and they have continuing care from independent living to assisted living to skilled care living. They also have within the same campus memory loss care and essentially would be able to remain in that community for their remaining years as they progressed through various needs. The staff was very helpful and very professional. All good comments. They also seemed to have good amenities and services onsite that is staffed 24/7, so it also led to the decision. They have a very nice exercise room with a physical therapist on-site. They have an aquatic center for aquatic therapy. It's a large campus, so they have extensive walking trails. There's plenty of planned social activities and transportation. They're also planning some additional outdoor amenities for when the weather's appropriate. They just seem to be investing quite a bit into their community. They're also a nonprofit, so they invest back into the community and they have a benevolent fund that can help with the residents as well. Meals are not included, but there are meal plans available. I believe it's just on a dollar-for-dollar basis that you can just put money in the account and then they just purchase what they would want. There's a continental breakfast included for all, but beyond that, for independent living, you purchase as you go and it appears that the pricing is pretty reasonable.

We wouldn't be able to have my mom and dad together in the same building at Asbury Springhill. My mom is in a lower level of care and my dad has dementia, so the time's going to come when he's going to have to be put in a higher level of care. The staff member during the tour was good. They have apartments for independent living, a different building for assisted living, and a separate building for residents that need a higher level of care.

Dad likes the food at Springhill. Although he's in assisted living, he doesn’t require a lot of care. They monitor to make sure he's taking his medication. He was recently sent to the hospital, and there was a representative from Springhill engaged in what was going on so they would know what kind of care he would need when he returned. The apartments are very nice. They help hang up your pictures and draperies for you, and not all places do that. There are multiple activities going on all the time. They take the residents out to the mall, the grocery store, the local casino, and doctors' appointments. It is quite a large place located in a residential setting. The outside of it is all patio homes, and they are completely on their own. And then they have apartments that are completely independent, then they have assisted living and nursing homes all on one campus. What's convenient for us is when he returned from the hospital, he required rehab, and we didn’t have to find one. Dad raves about this place.

Where to begin?? The staff is rude and dismissing, My grandmother was in terrible pain and her health decreasing rapidly day by day. She was bounced back and fourth between Springhill and to the emergency room. The nurses are rude and do not treat the patients with the respect and proper care. They forget to give her, her blood thinning medication which at first she had to remind them to give it to her! A few days later they forgot to give it to her and my poor 82 year old grandmother is so ill and in debilitating pain. Because of the nurses negligence she didn't receive her medication for 2 days in a row which resulted into blood clots in her legs. It was actually unbelievably sad. As we had no choice it looked as if our poor grandma was slowly passing, My family pulled together and transported her to a Pitt Hospital. As we were trying to make our plans, a nurse turns to my family and says "Well if its that bad why didn't you already have her in Pittsburgh?" Wow. Really? Just so cold and bitter at our families lowest time. Mind you this is 6 weeks after being in the Springhill care, we had her travel in an ambulance to get better care. Within hours of her being under Pitts. Hospital care they quickly realized my grandmother was suffering from a major infection in her lower back. Simple blood work, MRI would have uncovered this, If we didn't take her out of there I am positive she would have passed. I would never, ever, ever recommend this facility to ANYONE. There patients often go unnoticed and they do not receive the care or attention that is needed. These are human lives. It's actually really disheartening a healthcare facility works in this way. My families experience was painful and awful. As I type this, I am picking up phone calls from all family members spreading the news that comes regarding my grandmothers health. They are now doing emergency surgery first thing tomorrow morning to have the infection cleaned and drained. Again, the infection that grew to be this big of an issue due to NEGLIGENCE. If my grandmother didn't have our family, and personal family members that are Doctors I dread to think what could have happened to her. Again, if your reading this. Do not trust this Facility with anyone you love.

Springhill Senior Living Community was gorgeous. I want to live there. You can start out in a condo, go to an apartment, and if things happen to you, you can move up to the rehab setting. It has everything there, but the cost is outrageous. The apartments were beautiful, absolutely gorgeous. They do have a dining room where they used to serve the meals but now it is a restaurant setting. They have a big gym and a library. The people that we met were very nice. They have card games, bingo, trips out on a bus, shopping, and trips to different places.

I visited Springhill and it's expensive. It was a small apartment, it wasn't one of the larger ones, their entry fee was $147,500. Staff was wonderful and people were happy there. They have to be crazy people to spend that much money to get in because then you spend equivalent money on a monthly basis for rent. That's just a walk through the door now you can get 50% of that back, but that's still a huge investment and you'd lose a lot of interest from your money. It's a very exclusive place and I didn't really see that it was all that great. I think the furnishings are very lovely, and you have a washer and dryer in your apartment, but I'm very short and if something gets stuck in the back, it was the frontloader, I wouldn't be able to reach the back of the washer that's on the top. The stack with the washer on the top and dryer on the bottom. And sometimes, when your washing them, clothes cling to the drum, and I wouldn't be able to reach it. I would have to have a stool there, so having the washer and the dryer really wasn't that big of a deal for me. The layout is good. It's still kind of typical because you have the halls and the rooms off the hall but it's nice. You go to the cafe and you buy your lunch. It's just so expensive. That's all I can say about Springhills; it's expensive. The facility is lovely, the staff is fine, but they don't serve any food.

I liked the whole atmosphere in general of Springhill Senior Living. The other thing that I really liked was not having to pay for 3 meals a day that I wouldn't be eating and also having available cafeteria type if I wanted to go buy a meal. It was not too far from a mall. If would go, I would like to take my little dog with me, and if we had a little dog or a pet of any kind, we had to take the ground floor apartment, which was understandable.

Springhill Retirement Community was very nice. It had a beautiful ground. The apartments were laid out well. Their common rooms were beautiful. The people who worked there were very nice. However, they were very expensive.
