Ridgewood Senior Living

My husband was at Ridgewood Senior Living. He needed to be in deep care, but I would not recommend that to anybody. It was not the people that ran it, but it was the people that were supposed to be taking care of him. My husband needed to be changed, and they can't use lifts there. Therefore, he didn't get changed very often. Sometimes, I think that he only got changed once a day, and I'm not even sure he got that much. One time I was there for 6 hours and they never changed him. They never even checked on him. The crowning blow was when he had tears on his skin, on both arms, and some of them looked like they could be fingernails. I think that they were treating him pretty strongly. The food wasn't bad, but it was very little for my husband. He was a big eater, and there wasn't enough food for him, but they never gave him any extra food. The upkeep looked OK, but the memory care people rarely had anybody up there doing puzzles with them or crafts.

Ridgewood Senior Living was fairly new, but it was kind of average. It was not fancy in any way. It was nice for people that aren't looking for posh. The staff who assisted me during the tour was very nice, professional, and helpful. They had a big room with a big screen and they showed movies in there and football games; that's pretty big in Nebraska. They took them shopping and they had an exercise room. The place was just kind of minimalist in a way. The rooms were nice and spacious. They had one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, and they had a few studios.

My sister is in Ridgewood Senior Living. I like that they've got very friendly staff and fairly new accommodation. They were willing to work with my sister and they were laying new flooring. She has a dog and so they were able to get rid of the carpet in the kitchen, dining room, and living area for her. I haven't done very many meals with her, but the ones that I've had seemed to be good. They have a book club that she's very interested in, and there are lots and lots of other opportunities. They have an exercise room and a library. Her favorite is the ice cream machine. She loves ice cream in the evenings, and she loves treating all her great-nieces and nephews when they come. They have a very beautiful surrounding area with farmlands.

My aunt was in Ridgewood Senior Living. It was wonderful and absolutely clean. It's a small community. Everyone knew everyone. The chef was wonderful. They have a lot of activities for my aunt. They give her medicine when she needs it. They each have their own little apartment. When you walk in her apartment, there's a little kitchenette. There is a couch in the living area with a window. Next to that is her bedroom, and the walk-in closet is right there. The bathtub was accessible. The staff was wonderful. They were friendly. They came out to greet us and talked about my aunt. They take them on trips (if they want to go). There's a big common area where there was a TV and everybody hung out. It was so clean and so nice. I wouldn't mind being in one of these when I get older. I can't say a negative thing. It looked new and well taken care of. There was a place where they could get a sandwich and stuff whenever they want.

My father has been a resident at this facility for about a year now and he couldn't be happier. The staff is wonderful and caring and patient and they always make him feel welcome and loved. As a family member, that means the world to me. I've come to know several of the other residents as well and they are all warm and loving to both of us. He gets 3 meals a day that he raves about. Feels like home <3 The facility is kept safe and clean as well. We love Ridgewood!

Ridgewood is good. They offer both independent and assisted living. What you're paying for is only two meals a day rather than three. They have plenty of programs. It doesn't feel as homey as some of the other places we went to see.
