Anchor Bay at Greenwich

My mom is currently living at Anchor Bay at Greenwich. It's very beautiful and very nice. The apartment is very nice, everybody is very nice, and my mother really likes it a lot. They have a dining room and a common area where they hold activities. The food is excellent. The chef is very good. The dining area is very nice. Everything is good there, except for the pricing. The reason we are moving is because they go on a point system. So they told me that my mother's points were going up and it was going to cost me an extra $900 a month. And I told them I wanted to find out why it was going up that much when they hadn't done anything differently for my mother. They told me that they would let me know, and I never found out. They just kept sending the bills for another $900 and we could not afford that, so that's why we're moving. I'm very disappointed with the pricing situation. If they had tried to work things out, we might have stayed there. The director is the person that I tried to talk to about this issue, and she was non-responsive.

I went to the Anchor Bay at Greenwich. I like the location, it's close to where I want to be in the area. I was very impressed with the hospitality of the people that lived there. I met a few people, said hello, they gave me information, and they showed me a couple of rooms. They showed me a studio, but it's much too small. I looked at two, one-bedrooms, one was finished, and one was going to be redone. I thought they were very nice. I liked the room, but it's hard to picture it without furniture. They had a beautiful dining area, a beautiful social area, and I guess just about anything you need or want, you can get there. Everybody was friendly and outgoing. They offered to bring me a meal, so I could experience it. It looked like there was a good choice of menu.

My mom is at the Anchor Bay at Greenwich. She really liked it right off the bat. It was very aesthetically pleasing, very clean, warm, and welcoming. The staff was all super helpful and very nice. You can tell they really listen to everybody and care about their residents. It just seemed like a perfect fit. It looks really nice, and it's a smaller community. You could also tell that they're going to pay attention to the individual a little more. We were able to get it in just a couple of weeks. It was very quick. The sales and marketing director, Alison, was very helpful. She was text messaging me if I had questions after hours, and she would get right back to me. Communication has been great. They helped me get in touch with a couple of resources and things that I needed to follow up on my end. There's also an actual executive chef. They do a lot of seasonal menus and everything's fresh. The chef actually meets with the folks at the assisted living wing once a week to talk about the menu and plan some of the things that they would like to see. They have five or six activities planned every single day for the memory care folks. They have two staff members that are in charge of all of the activities. One specifically focuses on the memory care facility itself. What's nice about the activities is that they're all throughout the day, and they're all designed to hit all the different elements that would be helpful for people with memory loss. Some of them are more towards physical/body activity and some are geared towards engagement of the mind. Then they also have the ones that will engage your spiritual side. That's every day, but then they also have weekly special activities planned. It's her third day there, and they had just gone out on a shopping trip where they purchased toys for the holidays. On Sunday, they're going to a Christmas tree lighting ceremony. We were extremely surprised at the quality of the place compared to its price. We were really extremely happy to find them because all of the places are extremely expensive. This one was actually on the lower side of all the places in Rhode Island. For the services you get, it's really good.

We chose Anchor Bay at Greenwich because other places didn't have a memory care locked ward. The staff member who gave me the tour was very attentive. The room my mom is in has already been remodelled and it's quite nice. She loves the food and she says it's great. They have daily activities. They get on the bus and go out to places, and they also have activities in the community daily. The price is a little expensive.

Our experience with Anchor Bay at Greenwich was excellent. The staff was also excellent. The rooms that we saw were larger than we expected and were very clean. We saw their dining area which was also nice. It was like a restaurant type. There were menus and you get to select what you eat.

The women and men of the Memory milieu on the D floor of Brookdale East Greenwich RI deserve adequate commendation. Not only nurses and aides, but also cooks, cleaners and hair stylists. Our mother, Marilyn Rittenberg, has been treated as kindly, compassionately, and efficiently as is humanly possible. The individuals who have enabled her high quality of life at this stage in her journey, go way beyond their job descriptions. All residents receive equal patience, gentleness, and compassion.
