Mother is in Diamond Willow for 8 years now. When she moved in 8 years ago, it was brand new and in good condition. Just last year, they sold it to a large corporation. It's been a good place. They keep her very clean and she never had bed sores. Mother is completely bedridden, she needs 24/7 care. Hospice comes to the facility and you stay there until you go. The girls are very good at following instructions given by the hospice RN.
There's 5 buildings, 2 buildings contain 10 suites each. These suites are for moderate memory loss. There are also 3 cottages for Alzheimer's and Dementia patients that need to be locked in but the family can walk in and out of it. Mother hasn't had to wear the alarm. Seven of them wear wrist anklets that when they try to get out, the alarm sound on the door. Plus some that are prone to falling sits on a pad, if they get off the alarm rings.
There are a couple of things I would like to see being addressed. It has something to do with management styles. The girls that work there are only personal assistants, not even higher level like nursing assistants. They are helping people to the bathroom, change beds, do the laundry, sit down for conversation, cook and clean. There's only so much they can do if they have an LPN or RN in the premises or on call.

I visited this facility
We had a very positive experience with Diamond Willow. The staff was always very helpful and kept my grandparents as happy as possible. Both buildings had very nice areas for large families to get together and visit, which we made use of. They often threw holiday parties where everyone was invited, it seemed like everyone was having a good time and there was plenty of food.My grandfather did not seem the happiest here, but he was housed in a building for alzheimer's patients so that he could stay with my grandma. The lack of sane people to talk to seemed to affect him after a short time. Once he moved to the larger building, things went much better. Initial placement could have been better, but I believe it was a choice made by the family. Overall, I was always happy with what I saw at Diamond Willow. It made a hard situation tolerable for a few years.

I visited this facility
This is a warm and loving community, The food wasn't always the best, but the staff always went out of their way to ask about how your family was or to just make small talk with the members living here. The rooms were nice sized and easily accessible. The laundry was done daily so there were always clean clothes, and the place was generally clean, although it sometimes did acquire a bit of a mess, Especially around the holidays when lots of decorations were put up. The home that I visited often had both females and males on one side of the home. The members seemed to like this, and I often times found cute couples flirting. Everyone generally seemed to be happy and enjoyed all the activities the staff put together for them. The housing we were at was really big and had lots of nice scenery. There was a big fire place that was turned on in the winter and lots of the ladies I visited liked to sit at the table by it and play scrabble. There were always at least three staff members on at a time, so it never really felt like we weren't taken care of. Generally it was a good experience all around.
