I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is now at The Sanctuary at Wilmington Place. There are some really good nurses and aides, and there are some that I don't quite feel are as good or as interactive. They seem to be short a lot, which is a shame, because you'll see other patients there that look like they need help, but there's no one around. It looks like it's a staffing issue. We've made an effort to go every day that he's been there so we can at least check in on him and make sure he's eating a meal. They're definitely not set up for a real advanced need, at least in the skilled nursing portion of it. I don't know about the assisted living or other long-term ones there. The ones I see most often that seem to be the regular staff, especially on the first shifts, are really good. There are some really good aides and a couple of really good nurses. I'm very glad when I see their faces because I know that they're going to more than just do their job, they're going to go a little bit above and beyond. I feel like the other staff could do better. I know they just don't have the staff or the ratio of nurses and aides to residents. They try to cater a little bit to individual diets, but they have older people who have a little bit of difficulty with the utensils, and they're not cutting up anything for them. They need to be a little bit more thoughtful about the size of the bites and whatnot. The food looks adequate, but portion size and bite size are really just off from what I see, and it's not just for my dad, because we end up cutting it for him and trying to give him the little pieces, and we know what he needs. It just doesn't do well for the majority. They have Medicaid options there and we're Medicaid pending. If someone is paying for it outright, they can do better for them.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad is at The Sanctuary at Wilmington Place. It's a rehab. Right now, we paid for a month of him there, and then we're going to see how it goes. It's been excellent. The communication has been good. His room is well-kept and very clean. There was a little lack of communication there on the physical therapy because we were supposed to take him out of there last Friday since he had a kind of relapse. There was a little delay getting the physical therapy back up. He loves the meals, the food has been excellent there.

I visited this facility

I only wish I had had the time to check out the skilled care before my Mom ended up there. The worst mistake in my entire life which ultimately took her life. If only I could post the horrid pictures from my Mom's stay, nobody in their right mind would put a loved one there! By law they're supposed to notify the hpa if anything changes. Even on discharge they never said anything about incontinence, unstagable bed sore, bruises everywhere, broken down heels, and her arm so drawn up from laying in one spot she screamed if we touched it. So the assisted living may be great, but NOT the skilled side.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Recently the doctor for my elderly uncle decided it was time for him to move to an assisted living facility. This was a slightly overwhelming task because we live two states away. Pam and Beth where absolutely instrumental in making this move happen by putting all the red-tape paperwork together to him with this transition. They also provided virtual tours of the facility and his room so he would feel comfortable with his transition. The day we moved him in, the nurses Teresa and Kelly where on top of his medical records and medications. It was quite apparent that both of them take care of their residents with kind and compassionate hearts. We felt very comfortable leaving him in their care. Dean, the Maintenance Director was on top of helping us by providing some temporary medical equipment for him to use until he could get his own. EVERYONE went above and beyond to help make my uncle's transition as smooth and comfortable as possible. We would highly recommend this facility and the wonderful people running it to anyone! 5-stars all the way!!

Worst experience ever! I would give them no stars if I could. My father was sent to this facility for rehab to increase his mobility. In the first month, the staff mismanged his medications which sent him to the hospital twice. Once I was able to talk to the head of his medical team to adjust them to what he normally takes, he was finally feeling good enough to complete PT - that took 1 month, which I am sure they made money off medicare for. PT was limited to 1 hour per day 5 days a week. The remainder of the time he spent sitting in his room. He entered using a walker and exited using a wheelchair and unable to stand on his own. Staff is not responsive to the patient requests or family members requesting updates on progress. Because of COVID-19 we were unable to go into the facility to see how he was doing and relied on him and the staff to give us updates, which differed greatly. This was by far the worst experience we've ever had with any facility. To the point where I have already engaged with a lawyer. If you love your family, I would steer clear of this facility.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Staff very conscientious but highly overworked. Staffing is only to State minimums. High use of agency nurses/aides creates lack of patient care continuity. Administration defensive. Ass't DON rude. Shared bathrooms large. Housekeeping very good. Rehab: head of department excellent. Rarely saw MD; NP is very good. After hours medical care non existent. Takes up to 24 hours to get prescribed medications because "they are couriered in from another state." Medications administered per facility schedule; not as ordered. Must know and seek medication from staff. Social worker very helpful. transport to medical appointments is unreliable. Staff never offered to change bed linen. Had to seek emergency room care 2 times during 3 week stay. Food: staff helpful; poor quality. Laundry system excellent.

If you care about the person don't put them there. I had my loved ones removed the first twelve hours.they put them in bed and their just left there and they won't come when the call button is pushed never. I know because I stayed beside my loved ones the whole time she was there. The initial tour is an act I was impressed but please believe me the place is awful and your loved one will be mistreated.i

My mother became a resident here almost two years ago to the date. Since my mom was there I was thoroughly pleased with everything. I felt that I never had to worry about anything because she was well taken care of. You always felt welcomed there. Everyone was extremely friendly and you were always greeted with a smile by Mary when you entered the facility. My mom always said she was pleased with the nurses, the aides and everyone else that she came in contact with. We would personally like to thank Pam Vice, the Admissions Director, for all her help and guidance. I would also like to thank Melissa, a nursing aide there that gave my mom so much extra love and care. I would recommend this facility to any family seeking assisted living.

I visited this facility

The Sanctuary at Wilmington Place was very clean. They had two levels of service; one is assisted living, and one is more or less a rehab center. If you were in the assisted section or the independent part, the rooms were small. They were apartment-like with a small kitchenette and a dinette. Again, it was very clean, and they did a have meal service, which is good. The caregivers seemed really helpful and willing to go above and beyond to take care of the patients.

I visited this facility

The tour of Sanctuary was fine, but I can’t afford to live there. The neighborhood is OK, and the grounds are clean and well-kept. The room is big enough and has a bathroom and shower with a little kitchenette for the refrigerator and microware. I saw the dining room, and it was nice. They have an ice cream parlor and Bingo. The staff is friendly. The residents look taken care of.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Upon a resent vist to see a friend at 10 Wilmingtom place i was total in awe. The place is just in outstang perfect condition. The staff was so kind and warm it was heart warming. The staff paid each and every resident the utmost respect and care that anyone would want. The meals are served on such a timely matter that it shocked me. The residents have daily activities planed for them such as bingo and various card nights. The residents even get a weekly trip to the local Walmart to shop. The grounds of the place are in perfect shape and there is plenty of visitor parking.I would recommend this facility for sure.
