    I visited this facility

Magnolia Garden have nurses that come in. They had a wonderful patio outside with animals that live in the vicinity for the participants to feed. It’s a wonderful setting with a lot of big trees. It’s very pretty. They do have a person that’s in charge of activities, but they are limited because of space; if you get 10 people maybe to come to any of the activities that's enough. They had ice cream social, and the dining room was very nice. They’ve got a huge lobby; there’s not other separate rooms to play games. The rooms are more like a studio; it’s like a big large bedroom with a patio door that goes out to the patio and a bathroom. It doesn’t have a kitchen or dining facility in each of the individual rooms.

A sorry little place that had more of a nursing home feel than an assisted living. The rooms were small and clinical looking, the outings and activities were lacking and the price tag at $6600 a month was unbelievably high for the lack of social interaction and ambiance. Dining was limited to 2 hours per meal -- which means if they wanted breakfast at 10am instead of the 7-9am when it was served, it would be a problem. This one was a big NO.

The sanitation is clean, and the outside is older. Magnolia Garden is an older building, and it needs some repair. The rooms have been remodeled and are very nice. The staff is very caring; however, they are mostly men. They should try to get a few more women. My aunt is blind, so she doesn't participate in many activities. They have exercise programs and bingo. They have a piano player, and she gets up and does some dancing, but she doesn't participate in many of the games. The food leaves little to be desired. It's nutritional, but the food isn't the greatest.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother stayed here for 3 years. I liked the fact it wasn't too large and she was able to get to know not only the residents, but the people who worked there. They always knew her favorite foods, personal likes and dislikes. It felt more personal and caring. The food wasn't the best. Sometimes, on special occasions, the owners seemed to force their (what seemed exotic to my Mom) tastes on the residents and that wasn't so great. But I would say they were average. It could have changed since my Mother was there. We were promised a lot of activities and at the time there weren't that many, although I know they were constantly trying new ideas out. Not an easy task! They did have regular doctor days and regular shopping days that the residents really liked. They also had a beautiful vegetable garden. Decent place.

The majority of the people have pretty advanced dementia whereas my father does not. There's not a lot of initial stimulation for him there. There are not a lot of activities and he came from a place that had a lot of activities.

We were not very impressed with this property. I thought it was like a warehouse senior.
