I am/was a resident of this facility

Right now, I'm in a care facility called Dallas Retirement Village. It's well-kept outside. It has a nice entrance to come into. They have a greeting person at the table there. We have a nice dining room. We are served at a table. Whatever we want, it is brought to us. The food is pretty good. I would give it a 5-star rating. The rooms are nice. We have our own bathrooms. It's a shared shower. We have caregivers that would come in and get us up in the morning. They help dress us and everything if that's what you want. If you want to dress yourself, you can do that. They have RNs who give out the medications, and they come to the room at a specific time. If you need to have your blood sugar checked all the time, you can do that, too. They have TVs, a couple of dressers, a chair, and a hospital bed. They are all clean. They always have somebody come and check the rooms and clean them up if they need to be cleaned. The caregivers here are cheerful. They care for you whatever your needs are. This place is nice and clean. We have a gym here that we used to get better with. We have a church here and they have activities. I haven't been to many of them but they're fun.

My family member is doing well at DRV. It takes time to adjust to living in a retirement community, and the staff are welcoming.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved to Dallas Retirement Village 8 months ago. I feel blessed everyday for living here. The blessings come in many ways: *I have met the most friendly, interesting residents and have established some close friendships. *The staff are all so accommodating.whether it be a server or maintenance crew, the Director or staff members. We are a community. *I feel safe which is so important anywhere one lives. *My Lodge apartment feels like a small home not a typical apartment. The attention to detail making it feel home-like has made me feel cozy and comfortable. *The activites abound for whatever is my interest. There are highly trained and educated leaders, as well as, many resident led activities. I have started a greeting card making class. I enjoy it as much as the crafters. *Emphasis here is healthy living from the nutritious meals, activities, physical and spiritual health. Everything I need is here. It is the perfect lifestyle for me and that is why I am so grateful and blessed to live at Dallas Retirement Community.

I visited this facility

The tour I had at Dallas Retirement Village went fine. They had a nice facility. They had an exercise pool and a lot of activities. The staff was fine. They showed me around and were very informative about what was available. It's a large place. However, a lot of it was not available at the time due to COVID and I felt that the available apartments were too small, while the larger apartments were too expensive.

I visited this facility

This past February we relocated during the pandemic from Milwaukie, Oregon, to Dallas, Oregon, which is about 15 miles west of the capitol, Salem. The move itself was fairly uneventful; however, the transition from one senior living facility to another was dramatic. Our social knowledge / recognition dove from 200 people down to about four. Meeting other residents was further hampered by the requirements of wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Those made it difficult when all that you could see was their eyes. Fortunately, the staff had programs to keep us occupied with day trips into the countryside, physical exercise classes, bingo, line dancing classes, movies, the woodshop, and assorted craft projects. Coming from a highly regarded retirement community and having researched the residential market for six months, we had grand expectations for this adventure. We even assembled a spreadsheet to make sure we did not miss anything important to us. We finally chose a Garden Home in the Dallas Retirement Village (DRV) with two bedrooms and two baths that has ample storage and a large single-car garage with additional storage. The food at our new home is good. Portions are large, and the pricing is reasonable. This is an issue that you need to check out very carefully if you are planning to move to this type of living accommodation. You should look at several weeks’ worth (months would be better) of menus. This will be your diet for the next few years, so pay attention here. Most residents have favorites, and every dinner has a special, so there is a variety of food to choose from. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make accommodations for individual preferences. You get housekeeping services twice a month, and your yard is maintained for you. The front desk is staffed 24/7 and can always be reached by phone. There is a garden plot where you can get your hands dirty if that is of interest, and pets are welcome. The city of Dallas has approximately 15,000 residents and is the county seat for Polk County. There are several walking trails and parks nearby. DRV has two libraries of its own, and the Dallas Library is a long walk or a short drive away. We are still exploring the restaurant scene, but we are only about 30 minutes away from some great food in Salem.

We toured Dallas Retirement Village for my husband, and it's a beautiful facility. I did not get a tour of the skilled care or assisted living, so we're only talking about the independent living and their new lodge. They're finishing some new units, and they're beautiful. Everything we've heard from people who live there are positive experiences. I've met some of the residents that were out and about. They all have good things to say. The staff is very accommodating, very gracious, and we felt very welcome. They have various sized units. They have 1 and 2-bedroom units (and I'm not sure what they call them in the lodge) that they call condos. The units were 1-bedroom, 2-bedrooms, or a bedroom and a den. They have smaller apartments for people who need subsidized facilities. They also have individual cottages on the campus. They have all kinds of activities. The most recent addition is in progress, but they will have a small swimming pool. They have a gym. They have sundry activities, crafts, a weight room, and a library.

Many people lived up at Dallas Retirement Village. It is very large and growing. The staff is great, and the care that they received have had nothing but good reviews. My mother had been in the care facility part of it, and she had nothing but good reviews of the place. I personally know some of the staff. Before Covid hit, they do wonderful outreach with the ladies there. And for the guys, they have a wood shop there which is a benefit. They have tea parties and exercise. It is a community within itself. I have senior friends in all the levels.

The facility is well maintained and the amenities are quite substantial. I've had several meals and they were all tasty. The staff seems to care for the residents well and there is good communication between residents and staff.

Our Aunt lived at the Dallas Retirement Village Health Care Center for nearly three years. We had the freedom to make her room like her home pictures, flowers and her treasured nick-knacks. She was comfortable. Staff tended to her every need and she could be demanding and at times unpleasant but the staff just loved on her. She enjoyed the activities such as music concerts, movie nights, games, country drives, pet visits and getting her finger nails painted. She enjoyed other areas of campus like outdoor walks by the pavilion and flower gardens. She especially loved the other options for dining offered around campus. Overall, her time spent at Dallas Retirement Village included all areas of campus from independent living to health care and it was exceptional. She went to her forever home last February - we rest comfortably knowing her time was well spent and she was cared for in a loving manner.

We had a very nice visit at Dallas Retirement Village. It was very good and I would highly recommend it. The 1-bedroom apartments are clean, very lovely, set up nicely, and have nice kitchenettes. It's a lovely and beautiful facility. We looked at a brand-new condominium that was a 2-bedroom unit, complete with a complete kitchen and a washer and dryer. The food is lovely and wonderful as well.

Cleaning has been improved. Food smell a bit off at lunch. Lots of good complaints. Thanksgiving food was cold. Housekeeper phone are visibly seen on Fridays and walk texting in the halls. At least 3 housekeepers seem to not do their work good. Lots of phone activities seen by those young housekeepers. Housekeeping manager has seen it and not done anything about it. There's one housekeeper with impecable work and everyone loves.

Dallas Retirement is a nice community offering different levels of care, but they have stairs, and I don’t want my dad using stairs or elevators.

We visited Dallas Retirement, and my mother is on the waiting list. I have had friends that have had family in there. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the residents seemed very pleased with it. We got a good vibe. The apartments were clean, simple, and functional. She uses a walker, and it was easy for her to get around. The dining room was restaurant like. They do have accommodations for a party or for family dinners. There's something everyday. They have cards, prayer services, bingo, dominos, and scheduled outings once a week to different places in the community and the surrounding area. One thing that impressed us was the people that work there don't have a big turnover. They work there for a long time, which tells you that it's not a place where they burn people out and send them on their way. They have on-site security 24 hours a day.

We were invited for a presentation of the new units at Dallas Retirement and it was very nice, but a little expensive. The nice feature is they have all levels of care and the food is fine. They have activities and the facility is clean and well-maintained. It is an attractive facility. We were satisfied with what we saw but we can’t afford it.

My wife and I have had to help my aunt find an assistant living/retirement community to move to since she no longer can take care of herself completely. It has been a difficult thing to do because there are so many to choose from and also because of family difficulties and pressures. We went to the Dallas (Oregon) Retirement Village with my aunt about a month ago. A friend who also had a relative there had told us it wasn't a bad place but on the day we visited it did not impress us. My aunt is a sweet, friendly old lady and several people there, both staff and residents, that we met all seemed to be very unhappy. We don't know what their personal circumstances were, of course, but at least the staff could have put on a happy face for a potential client. One of the staff was particularly rude and brusque, making us feel like we were intruding by asking questions about the place. It looked nice and the facilities seemed okay, but it was not a happy, friendly place. We did not over-stay our questionable welcome and left after only 20 minutes.
