I am a friend or relative of a resident
What I like about Amelia Place is that it’s small and the people are super friendly. There are lots of activities with four or five a day, including exercise. They play games that vary throughout the day. They also go to places for lunch or dinner and have manicures twice a week. It’s a happy place.

I visited this facility
is past Sunday I was able to visit Amelia House in Council Bluffs. A fellow congregant at our church was moving his recently widowed mother o Council Bluffs. As he knew I had visited a number of them recently he asked me to come with. Once there we were greeted nicely and had a good walk-through. The nurses seemed nice, the guests seemed mixed, some happy and active, others more docile and not as obviously happy. There were plenty of opportunities for activities and the overall atmosphere was pretty positive. The amenities seemed to be pretty standard from what I have seen recently. For me the biggest surprise was the willingness of the residence to just talk to us about the experiences they had. They had lots of positives, some negative(mainly relationship issues with residents and a few nurses). When the residents are open, it makes it a lot easier to gauge a place. Overall, it seemed nice, not great, but nice.
