I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is at Middlefield Oaks. It is an assisted living, and he is in a studio. It is kind of like a little apartment home. He has a little push button, and they will help him if something happens. The room is perfect. I would like to live there. They have lots of activities, if you want to do them. There is singing, singing groups, and games. My wife had a bad situation with one staff member, but everything else has been pretty good. The only thing I don't like is they have a push button. They are supposed to get people to help them in the room. However, I know two people that pushed the button, and nobody came. I eat there quite often. It's awesome. They prepare food for them three times a day. If he requests anything else, they'll bring him something. You can go outside anytime you want. They have a place where they can go out and sit in the sun. His room has a big refrigerator.

My wife is in Middlefield Oaks' memory care. It's a really nice place, I'm very happy with the care she's getting there. She's not happy being there simply because of the Sundowners she's suffering from. One reason that I picked this particular community is the fact that I can go in and bring her out and take her to dinner, breakfast, lunch, or whatever, although, that's not possible now with the virus. The other thing that swayed me to this facility was when I'm done self-paying, I can go to Medicaid without her being evicted. They will go ahead and accept the Medicaid reimbursement. The hospital is also right across the street. My wife is suffering from Sundowners Syndrome and the people here seem to be working with her very well so that's another reason I like this place. There's a little area where they get together and those with enough brain power stay and play games like cards and all that. The staff is very helpful and they contact me 2 or 3 times a week to let me know what's going on. They have the assisted living out front and then the memory care is in the back. Sometimes, not now because of COVID, they let the residents intermingle if they're not escape-risk.

This place got a new director and the activities director resigned. They have completely gone downhill since then. The memory care residents are not cared for and are ignored every day. They aren't showered and they sit there and stare at their feet all day. None of the aides entertain them or give them things to do. There's no music, no TV, no games, gatherings, nothing. They don't allow visitors due to covid, so the staff are literally able to do the bare minimum without anyone noticing. We went in the pick my grandma up and there weren't any aides to be found in the entire wing. There were five residents sitting in the living room staring at the wall. We had to go find an aide and make her get them puzzles and activities to work on My grandmother is always filthy when we see her. Once her fingernails were so long, she couldn't hold her spoon. All of her clothes are missing and the staff can't tell us where they are. They sent her to her doctor appointment in torn old sweatpants and a baggy shirt that wasn't hers. She usually is crying due to boredom and having nothing to do. She's gone to the ER twice in a month due to not being cared for by the aides. This is unacceptable. Do not send your loved ones here.

My mother is at Middlefield Oaks Assisted Living Community. It's been good. The rooms are clean. The staff all seems good and the activity instructor is super good and really puts a lot of care. The med techs I've met are very professional and very good at what they do. I haven't yet seen anything that I thought was unacceptable. Everybody seems pretty caring and is doing a good job. I ate there once, and it was decent.

Middle field has very friendly staff, the care staff are always willing to help aunt when ever she needs them. The food is great. I love to have lunch with her. I have never met a nicer group of people. I would recommend Middle field to anyone who needs a quality place for their family to be. The residents are always going out on outings and doing fun things.. They recently went to the coast and always have great music and entertainment at the community.

I feel that the management's goals and outcomes are not in alignment with the goals that a living facility should have. Their top priority is filling rooms, making money, and cutting corners to cut costs and not the well being and happiness of the residents. It has gone down hill in the last few years and it has an enormous turn over rate at ever level of staffing. The employees there are not treated fairly and that in turn affects the work, dedication, and attention that they show the residents. Management never takes into consideration the input/opinions or concerns of their residents or the staff. I would not recommend this facility or any of the facilities that are ran by this family owned business.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother is currently at Middlefield oaks, and I am actively looking for a new place for her to live. It seems as though in the last year this place has fallen apart. The staff, though kind and caring do not seem to get support from management needed to take quality care of the residents here. Unless your family member is completely independent, or you yourself are able to spend most of your day taking care of your family member there, as I have, I would not recommend Middlefield oaks to anyone. I would not rate this even one star if I was not forced to.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother’s ninety-six and does not have any memory already. She’s really not doing well, but she’s being well taken care of at Middlefield Oaks. The staff is very good. They’re very helpful, caring, and responsive. It is a very clean place; very well made and well kept up. They also have a very nice garden in an enclosed area; it’s very pretty. They do a beauty shop thing there where they do their nails and things like that. It’s fairly home-like. They have their own furniture and their own pictures and decor in their rooms. It’s quiet and pleasant. I would recommend Middlefield Oaks.
