My mother was there for rehab and the staff was terrific. Everyone was very polite and professional. Private room was very big and clean. She may need a nursing home soon and this will be my first choice!

understaffed

They are understaffed and management shows no concern. My sister has been left for over 45 min. waiting for someone to help her to the restroom as she is unable to by herself. This has happened several times. How can this happen? We complain but it continues. Now with the virus it seems things are worse. Waiting for meals. They say it's because residents are eating in their rooms now. You would think management would adjust the schedules for this. There doesn't seem to be a set time for anything.

Administration was not available to discuss a problem with myself and family. Fantastic front desk staff lady and most nursing staff were excellent. STNA's on the floor need to be retrained....very unprofessional, talking about other residents while in the hallway. My mother-inlaw enjoys talking to the staff near the front door every day.

My mother was recently placed here. Most of the staff were very professional. The receptionist at the front desk (Casandra) was exceptional, going above and beyond when other family members interacted with her. Several nursing staff however, need an attitude adjustment (Michelle) and the Social Worker talk down to most of the visitors. Overall Mom enjoys the other residents.

I stayed at Cortland Healthcare Rehabilitation for 17 days after surgery. The staff was incredible. Everyone from nurses, aids, PT, OT, activities, and housekeeping all treated me like family. Everyone was so sweet. They took the time to get to know me and make me feel comfortable at a very hard time. I loved how they respected my privacy. If my door was shut everyone always knocked before coming in and if I was on the phone they I was given as much privacy as I wanted. My room was beautiful. The rehab wing was added November 2016 so it isn't even a year old. It was like staying in a hotel. Since I had a private room the visitation rules are very liberal. My cat got to come see me one day which did so much for my moral. My husband was encouraged to stay as long as he wanted and he did. Some nights until midnight or later. The PT and OT staff create a program to help you recover as quickly and safely as possible. I went from barely able to walk without assistance to now being able to walk around my house without worrying about falling. I visited the nursing wings to visit with people I met and they were just as nice and clean as the rehab wing. There was no bad smells, the residents were clean, happy, well fed, and active. The food was good not like homemade but way better than the average cafeteria food. There was a lot of variety. We got the menus in the morning and if didn't like what was served for lunch or dinner we could pick from a list of substitutes. Also on intake someone from the kitchen meets with you and goes through a list of foods to see what you like and what you don't. The only reason I didn't give Cortland Healthcare 5 stars was because they only offer a low sugar diet. They don't offer a lot of sugar free things like jello, pudding, yogurt, snack, etc.. as a new diabetic it can be hard figuring out what is OK to eat and what isn't. My experience at Cortland Healthcare was wonderful and if I ever need to recover someplace from surgery or an injury again I would want to go there.

My mother is in this facility with dementia, I am a Reg Nurse so know what to look for in terms of health care. The staff seems to keep the patients clean. Rooms are semi-pvt with not much room in them to visit.. The food is poor. My father dines every night with my mom and even he finds it not very appealing. No snacks are offered in the PM, you have to ask for them. The place is clean, and the staff seem eager to help.
