There really is nothing negative to say. From the Director to the staff explained everything clearly all of the details for my mother to live there. My mother, along with other relatives, were residents at Harrison House and for the most part, the same staff remained there. I did not notice any major turnover of the nursing staff along with the administrators. The staff were amazing, empathetic, caring, knowledgeable and professional. They made sure I was aware of any health issues with my mother and guided me towards the most appropriate treatment plans for her. The activities available were diversified to meet the needs of all levels of residents. The food was excellent with very nice food choices. The chef made sure the food was presented nicely on the plate. The staff and administrators could not do enough for my family and for me. I highly recommend Harrison House for your loved ones.

My husband and I visited Harrison House. We are looking for Independent living for ourselves. I loved the place. It was like a hotel. Each floor was decorated beautifully with antiques. The place was buzzing with activity. Ashley, the woman who gave us two tours of the place, is a nurse and the perfect person for her job. The activity room was a nice size and there were plenty of activities scheduled. The apartments were updated. The prices are within our range and we can bring our dog. There is a library, a nice sized gym, physical therapy, transportation. Everyone there seemed very content. Because it is not too big of a facility, the staff seemed to know each resident we encountered. I loved the laundry rooms, there are two on each floor and they are large and free! I really love the intimacy of the place and we are on their waiting list. Can't wait!

We visited Harrison House of Chester County. They were very polite. It's a clean facility. Everything appeared to be in order. I'm actually hoping to finally get a chance to move there. It would be convenient to go shopping. I saw a studio and a one-bedroom. They were very adequate as far as the size. They showed me the exercise area, their outdoor patios, which were kept very neat and orderly, the dining areas should I take their meal plan, recreation areas, and hobby areas. They have areas where they take care of plants. The staff was very knowledgeable, very courteous, and very professional. They had a reading group in one recreation area. I didn't really see that much activity, but it was between breakfast and lunch when we did the tour.

My mother currently lives at Harrison House of Chester County. She's in assisted living or personal care. Overall, it's good. I think she's received attentive care. The workers are caring and compassionate. The only negative was when we first toured the facility, we were told that pretty much there were all different levels of care, so as her needs increase, they would be able to handle her increased needs. As it turns out now, that's not the case. They told us that unfortunately since she's had a fall and needs more care, we now need to move her somewhere else. They offer different levels of care. I'm not quite sure why they feel that they can no longer care for her unless they just don't have room or an area that would accommodate her. They gave us the impression that they would be able to accommodate us. As her memory failed or as her needs increased, they had nurses that would be able to accommodate that. We were disappointed when that turned out not to be the case. The staff was kind and compassionate. The nurses, the CNAs, and the people that worked in the kitchen were all very kind, pleasant people. The rooms were nice and well-maintained. From what I've seen, they do a very good job of constantly updating and maintaining. I have had their food. It's not like going to a restaurant, but it's not bad as far as institutional food. They have a good variety. Their food is probably better than any other nursing facility. They have an activity room and for anybody that can go down, they try to get them down to the activity room. They have some performers that come in, play the piano, and try to get them involved. Every day, there are things that go on down there. They have a beauty salon. My mom would get her haircut there, so that was very convenient. They'd make sure she got down there and had her hair cut and brought her back to her room. My biggest disappointment was that they could not provide care for her as her needs increased. They don't have a memory care unit. They said that they don't have staff to try to take care of her if she would fall, that kind of thing.

We visited Harrison House Chester County and my sister liked that. We saw four different one-bedroom apartments and they were all very nice and very updated. The tour was great. Meals are not included in the rent, but that's OK because you can take them or you don't have to and it's only $7 a meal. Their dining room was also updated and very nice. On each floor, they had the library just close to where the individual apartments were and parking in the back. It was very nice.

I visited Harrison House Chester County. It's an old hospital, so the building's a little older. I think the rooms could be a little bit bigger, but they have a few to choose from. Overall, it was OK. The staff was kinda minimal, but they were very pleasant, and the people I saw were very nice. Some of the rooms had a kitchenette and some didn't. They have about the same activities and amenities as others, a weight room, barbershop, and a salon, they had a nice area outside for activities. They can go outside and do shuffleboard or backgammon and all that stuff, they have an area for that.
