I am/was a resident of this facility

Good Food. Good Whiff. The cleaning ladies clean the rooms and bathrooms everyday. Great RN's. I was on the 3rd floor REHABILITATION floor for three months. I visited the 4th floor which is their ALZHEIMERS/ DEMENTIA unit. Good Whiff. The 4th floor has the same food as the 3rd floor. Good Food. Nice CNAs. They also have a great kitchen staff. Nice backyard garden during spring, summer and fall.

I visited this facility

We would have placed our mother in Harmony Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, if we didn't put her in another place. It was very nice and the rates were (relatively speaking) low. They had a nice garden, and they had a lot of land. No one was around them. It was like they're on an island almost. I liked the rooms. The rooms were very nice. They were a pretty good size, especially in semi-private. It was very nicely decorated. I saw the dining room, which was nice. The building was very nice with a lot of windows and very pretty carpeting. It looked like the walls were just painted. It didn't look like a nursing home. I liked the atmosphere of it. She was very good, the person who was showing us around. They had a nice reception area.

I loved Harmony. The atmosphere was great. The staff chipped in for everybody else. They covered for each other. They didn't say, "That's not my job. I'll find you somebody." It wasn't just the nursing staff but also the people who were giving physical rehabilitation. If someone were passing by and they saw your light on, the person would come in and ask about what was going on. The administration was the exact same way. I think they had two different chefs, and one guy was a really great chef. I could tell when he was there because when I would eat his food, I would love it. I could tell when the other guy was there because I would taste the food, and it would be very unsavory to me. Still, you could call down to the kitchen and ask for a deli sandwich or a hotdog, so they were really accommodating. They made the best homemade tomato soup that I have ever tasted in my life. They really tried to do therapy. If you were to say, "Okay, I'm really tired right now," they would come back in a couple of hours to make sure that you would get that rehab. They would do it in your room. It was a good staff. Andy, the guy who ran the facility, was really nice. The young people who worked there were really kind.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

After two strokes, my grandmother was staying at the hospital full time for about 2 months. Everyday, after school I would visit her. She was then transferred to the nursing home, where I thought she would receive better care. She did not understand English fully, so I felt that it was my duty to help translate the conversation between doctors and nurses and her. This nursing home, if not like all, was quite depressing. It appeared to be more like a hospital for people who would never get better. There were some activities like '80s themed prom, Bingo, Chapel every Sunday and Wednesday, and book club. Due to the cultural barriers, my grandmother was not participating in any of these activities. After I saw some interactions with her doctors, I had the feeling that she was not getting the best type of treatment. Unfortunately, her communication plummeted after her second stroke. She recognized me for the most part, but it took her a while. Her roommate was friendly, but she too was not interested in any of the generic activities. Most people were in their beds in the rooms or in the hallways. The staff could have been more attentive, especially after I have pressed the buttons for assistance as well as gone to the desk myself. I knew she was not happy here and she lived here for about 1.5 years until we were able to raise enough money for her to come back home and function as best she could independently, though in our home.

Overall this nursing home was very nice. My aunt was here after a bout of Chemotherapy for breast cancer and the staff kept her very comfortable and satisfied during her stay. The room she had was very large and was extremely well kept up and stocked with many necessary supplies. The dining hall was large and offered very large and hearty portions even though my aunt did not eat much while she was here. The gym was a nice touch and housed a lot of equipment. The nurses are really the highlight of the facility they were fabulous!!!!! They always checked up on my aunt and attended to her every need. overall they were great and really made my aunt feel warm and safe while she was away from her family. The building is nice and has a park and is very green especially during the spring when my aunt was there. Overall this facility is great and is probably one of the best care facilities in all of Chicago.
