I visited this facility
Covenant Home of Chicago was not overwhelmingly big, very nice, and well maintained. The rooms were spacious. The kitchen area in the room was a little small but open. I would give it a 5 because it was very good.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
I was disappointed that the staff weren't engaged in any activities with the patients. It appeared that they just let them eat and theow them back into their rooms to get further depressed about life and hopeless. I also saw that they had my grandfathers clothes on another patient. Even one of the staff was wearing a new shirt I had purchased him.

I visited this facility
Tucked into a safe section of the city, the Covenant Home of Chicago is in an easily accessible area of the city. We were considering it for our uncle, who is a very vibrant and friendly person. He can no longer care for himself, but is in fairly good physical and mental condition. We liked that they offer a variety of living styles to suit the needs of the residents. They will help you complete an outline of the kind of care that is needed and adapt it as needed.
We noticed how warm the staff is from the time we got there. The décor was welcoming and comfortable, with plenty of nice chairs in the foyer for visitors. The communal rooms were all spacious, as were the dining areas. The food choices sounded mouthwatering, and the snacks we sampled were fresh and delicious.
The studios and other apartments were all lovely and more than adequate. They also encourage you to bring along furniture that is sentimental to you, which is nice. The associates help decorate to suit each person's taste, so most of the rooms are neutrally balanced.
The activities included everything one would typically expect at an assisted living facility, including games, entertainment, outings and exercise. The grounds were lovely and there was an outside exercise area for when weather permits. The nicely appointed park was accessible to all residents and is safely designed with staff on the grounds at all times.
While he doesn't need to much care now, it is comforting to know that as his needs change, this facility will be able to accommodate him as time goes on. There are many couples residing here "“ all of whom seem quite happy. Even still, our uncle, a confirmed bachelor, seemed to fit right in. All in all, this is a very nice facility with everything a senior would need, in terms of care, stimulation and healthy activities.

I am a friend or relative of resident
My boss' mother-in-law has been a resident for a few months. My boss and I are friends so I decided to accompany her on this visit after brunch one weekend. We got there and as soon as we arrived, one of the staff members immediately greeted us and asked us who we were here to see. She gladly took us to her room and asked if this was our first time visiting. When I replied yes, she offered me a tour of the facility. I accepted as I have friends and family who are residents of other assisted living facilities. I would definitely recommend it to them if I thought it was worth looking into. The entire facility was clean. I really enjoyed the staff as they were quite friendly and cheerful. I stayed for about an hour and enjoyed my experience.
