Cedar Care is in a gated community. My mom is a wanderer, so it is safe and I had no problems at all. The home itself is lovely, spotlessly clean, and it was like professionally decorated private home. I've been there with my mom for dinner. The food was excellent. They have 3 meals and 3 snacks per day. My mom has Alzheimer's and she's failing. I've asked that she'd be on comfort food and they do the best that they possibly can to make their patients comfortable.
I couldn't ask for a better staff. They go above and beyond. My mom is probably in the latest stage of Alzheimer's/dementia now, but she's so clean and no bedsores. They have someone comes in to give haircuts and do her nails once a week. They also get all of her medications from a pharmacy that delivers, so I don't have to do her medication anymore. And it's just amazing how well she's taken care of. The owner is a registered nurse. I'm a registered nurse also, so I know what to look for.
They have activities every day and has more interaction among the staff and the other residents, which what I like best. They have music, they have non-denominational church services on Sundays, or movie nights where everybody gets a bucket of popcorn. They also have birthday parties where they invite all the families, so the patients are not isolated. They have other people that talk to them and care for them other than just their own family. They have the best attitude as staff. Any time that I call or my aunt in North Carolina calls, they're so upbeat and positive. I feel so comfortable having my mom there.
