We decided to visit Gracious Care Home when in the area looking at options for our aunt. We really liked the area a lot "“ and there are also some nice accommodations available for family members visiting from out of town in the area.
The atmosphere was casual and friendly, yet it was clear that the staff did an excellent job of looking out for and attending the residents.
They offer respite and day care, in addition to permanent residency. We could see that there is adequate staff to attend to all of the resident's needs, from companionship and medical care to food preparation and cleaning "“ which was why the facility was so fresh and bright.
All of the communal areas were pleasant with nice furnishings and plenty of things to do. The activities ranged from lively discussions to board games, private reading and watching TV and film, as well as use of computers. The staff seemed very well-trained at taking care of a variety of resident types, from the less ambulatory "“ to those who have memory issues. Our aunt is in the early stages of memory loss and it is unclear exactly what is causing it. We were told that they could easily adapt to her mental condition, which put us at ease.
The outside grounds were spacious and well maintained. There was plenty of nice seating for seniors to enjoy themselves, either with supervision, other residents or friends and family.
All of the indoor areas were all clean and had lots of air and light. There is plenty of sunlight so it is not necessary to use lighting when it is sunny out. The private rooms were the same, with very nice furnishings and personalized decorations.
The food was really good "“ nice menus with plenty of healthy options. The snacks also looked really delicious, are offered regularly and anytime the residents ask for them.
The activities planned include plenty of physical exercise, visiting local establishments like restaurants, public library, movies, art and other culture. They offer planned exercise classes "“ like yoga and aerobics, but also offer residents the chance to work on equipment and take walks around the grounds with supervision as needed.
We are glad we went to see this facility and it is one of the better ones we've visited in the region so far.
