I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
My dad is a resident at Sabal House and has been there almost 3 years. The entire staff shares a loving, caring and warm attitude that you would want in someone caring for your parent. Because I live out of state, that is very important to me. They keep me informed with phone calls, emails and newsletters. I have not once worried about his care because I know he is receiving the best care! They keep him safe, secure and happy and I could not be happier. The director's door is always open and she is there to help you in making sometimes tough decisions. I would highly recommend Sabal House to anyone looking for a safe and caring environment for their parent

I am a friend or relative of resident
My mother was there for slightly over a year. Initially, it was the nice, small, caring homey environment where a couple of my in laws had lived in years past. There has unfortunately been a change in management and management style, as well as an apparent turnover in staff. Recently, my mother ended up with a hospital stay due to health issues, which is not uncommon. However, twice when we called the S.H. to state that the Dr. had indicated that she could soon be discharged, we were met with excuses & resistance as to when she could return. (All while you continue to pay for room). There is a protocol on hospital discharge of course, however, I was truly stunned that both times when we contacted Sable House, not ONCE did the director ask how my mother was doing or feeling. I knew at this point that this was not the best home for her. In fact, when I first called to say that I was so happy that my mom could be discharged, the director did not share my enthusiasm, & flatly stated that she could not assess my mother on that day because she was having to follow up on "several falls" that happened with residents over July 4th weekend & was just too busy. She then commented that my mother had been away for 4 weeks. Umm, I had to remind her that she had been away for a week and a half. Wow... I have a few other complaints, but out of respect for my mother's privacy and respect for the sweet residents, I will refrain. I did share more with the director's supervisor, but was only met with a mirage of old school public relations feel good speeches. I hope that they can improve and ensure the best care for the residents.

We did put my mother in a place this week, and we are going to see how that works out. Sabal House is considered assisted living, but I think it's going to work for a while. It is small, but we knew someone that was there, and they seem to be happy. Right now she is doing OK, but she has only been there for a few days. The staffs are very good. They told me that they did things like exercises at least several mornings a week. In their kitchen area, they have a big table where they might do crafty things. I'm fairly sure they cover transportation, and they have a nurse on staff too. When you walk in, it is very clean and very homey. In some places where you walk in, there's all tiled floors with a cold kind of environment for an older person. This had carpets, and when you walk in, it looks like a home. It looks like a big living area with couches; the people were in there a lot, and they seem to enjoy it. They have hallways leading to the rooms, and when you get to the door of the room, there would be like a hall table with a lamp on it. Your door looks like you are going into a nice apartment. I was very impressed that it is very clean.

We have found a place at Sabal House. We're really satisfied with it. They're really attentive and they meet her needs. We feel like this is the best place for her. The facility is also clean.

I visited this facility
I thought the facility was fantastic. At first, my Great Grandmother refused to stay and her medical problems were causing her to hallucinate. She imagined there to be bugs listening in on her and imagined a man drilling into the wall outside of her room to spy on her. She's lived there for almost two years and now she couldn't be happier. My Great Grandmother had to have a spine surgery, and her recovery at the home went splendidly and she now calls it home. The nurses there all love her and call her Momma Betty. The facility has a lot of activities for those who stay to participate in, and also has a hair salon which my Great Grandmother visits regularly.
