I went to The Crossings at Riverview. It was very nice, and the people were very nice. It was a very nice tour. The rooms were very nice. They had a model room that was very nice. We looked at the one-bedroom. The staff who gave the tour was very pleasant. Everybody there was very pleasant. We saw the dining area, but we didn't check the food. The dining area was very pleasant. The grounds were nice, too. Everybody was very friendly. It might not be new, but it looked new. We enjoyed the tour. I gave all the information to my sister, and I think she would move in in a minute, but she has some dementia going on, so a lot of it is going to be up to her two daughters who aren't too keen on her moving out here. But the atmosphere was nice and the people were nice. The place was kept up nicely. They had all kinds of things for the residents to do, so I think that was a positive.

I would place The Crossings at Riverview at the top of my list, but it's just a little more on the higher end. It was an unbelievable place. I've never even seen a place like that, and it's the nicest one I've ever seen. It looks like a luxury hotel. The apartments were great, they looked brand new. They had two different outdoor spaces. One was like, an outdoor screened kind of lanai kind of thing at one side, and the other was a whole outdoor area with trails that you can walk, like with concrete sidewalks, and gazebos. Fatima was great, she answered all our questions. They have so many different spaces. They have a library, game rooms, and arts and crafts rooms. They even have a space that you don't pay for, but you can reserve a room with a kitchen, and you can have your whole family come and do a birthday party or anything with them. It was very impressive.

My friend is going to go to The Crossings at Riverview. We took her on a tour, and she said she felt comfortable there. It was very nice. My other neighbor and I were with her, and we decided we wanted to be there because it's so good. She likes the idea that you could go to the dining room because she doesn't cook at home. So that's one of the good things. She also likes that she could bring her dogs. She likes the idea that they would do her laundry and clean the place once a week. She will have a very cute apartment on the first floor which is quite close to where she could bring the dogs out to the back courtyard. Everything was very clean. They're fairly new, and I think they did a good job. They even let us go back and let us go into the apartment one more time. They were really good. They opened up the apartment and then we walked all around the building. It was very nice. In terms of activities, a couple of ladies were at the theater, and they were getting ready to watch a video. There's a sidewalk around the building and even in the back. My friend likes to take her dogs for long walks, so this is going to be good for her because she can walk around the building. Plus, they have a screened-in porch upstairs on the second floor and down below on the first floor. There are some benches outside, too. My friend can also see the river from her apartment. She got a nice view.

My wife stayed at The Crossings at Riverview just for respite care. She's been home for a while now. She was there for 30 days. They had bingo, dominos, and arts and crafts. The staff was great. Upkeep and cleanliness were very good. Her room was good. I didn't try the food, but she said it was really good. They had a beauty salon, a gym, and a movie theater. Sometimes, the staff level wasn't there, so they couldn't do some of the activities, but it was better than the place she was in before. They should just maintain their staff, but that seems to be everybody's problem right now.

My mom is at The Crossings at Riverview's assisted living. Overall, I think it's mediocre at best. I don't think the care is very good. There are times when she pushes the button (they all wear one around their necks), and she has to wait 45 minutes for somebody to come and check on her. Yesterday, they were supposed to help her take a shower. Two ladies came in and sat on her bed in the bedroom, rather than being in the bathroom with her in case she fell or needed help. I don't know what's the point of them coming in to help her take a shower, if they're not actually in the bathroom when she's taking a shower. The staff is overworked and underpaid like any other facility too. The physical appearance of the facility is beautiful. It's clean and nice-looking. It's fairly new and only about 6 years old. The administration is also nice and accommodating. They try really hard, but a lot of their aides are just uncaring. The residents all complain constantly about the food. They have activities every day for them to do. Sometimes they're a little repetitive like they were doing bingo every single day for a while, but they really try. They have outings, and they play games. They have a game room that has puzzles and board games, so they have quite a few things. They also have some church services, so they do pretty well on that. They don't take insurance so it does get kind of pricey. They have 3 levels of care. If you have to go up, it's more money at every level.

My parents were at The Crossings at Riverview. The community is nice, they're one of the better ones that we've seen in the area. From the nursing staff to the front desk, everything's been very nice including the outside. There needs to be some improvement on the administrative part. Their room was very nice. Most of the staff were very, very friendly but some of them don't know their job. They're nice, but in terms of the process, nothing was done correctly, my parents never received a welcome packet. They had broken things in their room and we asked them to fix things but they didn't have a maintenance person on staff. Everything looked really pretty at that place but there was an issue. My dad died a week after being there. It's a pretty place and people are nice, but I had one nurse who didn't know how to do blood pressure medicine. So she had to do something else to take care of my mom. My dad asked for help with the button and no one came. He called for someone to come externally, and they got there before the internal staff came. I talked to the director about getting the refund after my dad passed, and she got an attitude, so my whole experience is zero. But the facility is nice. I don't think my mom ever received a diabetic meal. They were just getting hamburgers, french fries and cheesecakes so nothing diabetic. They were supposed to make my parents go downstairs, but they only kept bringing them food upstairs. So it's not a great experience. They cost way too much for not getting everything we need.
