I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This used to be a great place, but things have gone downhill in the last few years. My uncle was there for rehab and had a terrible experience, staff never had the time to assist him, I assume due to shortages. There are safer options in the area for care.

My mother has moved into United Methodist Homes Hilltop Campus. Everything is just excellent. They have good care, good people, and nice facilities. It is excellent overall. They are clean. They have good food and good selections. They have puzzles, bingo, church, exercise activities, special events with music, and singalongs. They have a vehicle that will take you to a destination appointment.

My mom has been in Hilltop Campus for a year now. I like that it's a continuum care facility. The staff is very caring. It has been a difficult year because of COVID and they've had staff leave and come back. The higher-ups have been there, it hadn't been consistent but that's because of COVID. Under the circumstances, they have done an excellent job. My mom has been very happy with the food. The activities had been set off for a while but most of them have resumed. They have bingo and exercise classes. They have a wellness facility with weights and a treadmill that they're able to use, and they have massage therapy there, too. They have a beauty salon for their hair. They have a little courtyard area. They don't have their own washer and dryer, but they do have a kitchenette. They'll use the washer and dryer down the hall where it is a shared facility.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is in Hilltop Campus. It's excellent, excellent care, excellent food, every time I call to ask a question there is always somebody there to answer my question. The only thing I don't like is the price. The room is nice, clean, but it's small. They always have a menu. When we were in the cafeteria you could always choose what you wanted at the time that you were seated, there was someone who would bring your choice to you. They had no activities last year, they raised the prices, but the residents got nothing. They were literally a prisoner in their room, and that was the thing I hated the most. I understand with COVID you've got to be careful, but when you lock the patients in their room that's a big problem for me, but before that they've got plenty of activities. She likes bingo, she likes church, the freedom to walk the hallways, and none of that occurred last year.

I visited this facility

We toured the assisted living at Hilltop Campus. I also attended a party there for somebody that was in the nursing care on a different occasion. The tour was nice, the facility looked clean and well-taken cared of. I didn't see a lot of the patients. I saw the whole thing. I think they've had activities posted on a wall with a list of things. They have rooms where you can have a party for your family member. I went for my husband's family member, they had like a birthday party and they gathered in a room and brought in food. It looks like they had outdoor areas where they can sit. During the tour, it was good. When we went to the party, we got lost and we had to walk through residential or some skilled nursing areas and it definitely felt like we were in a hospital. When he came to the party, his clothes were dirty, like he had food and stuff on them, I guess that happens, but in general it was okay.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am a resident of the facility. I live in the adult care. My room is small but homey and private. The facility is beautiful, especially the grounds in the summer time and fall. Staff is remarkable, they go above and beyond, from the top down. There is a variety of activities to meet the needs of everyone. They are well thought out and the director Faye is amazing. I am glad I chose the Hilltop Campus to live.

I visited this facility

We visited Hilltop Campus. We were looking at a 1-bedroom apartment, which has facilities there like refrigerator, and a microwave, plus they serve three meals a day if you want. They also have an exercise room, scheduled trips to the supermarket, or to your medical providers. Everything is all in the monthly fee. We were just walking through the walls, but everyone was very cordial and courteous. They said hi and asked how we were doing. The person who gave us the tour was absolutely outstanding.

Hilltop Campus is a very good place in a good location. In fact, if they had a place for us, we would move there. The staff that we met was very nice. Their rooms were nice, and the dining area is beautiful.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My dad is at United Methodist Homes. The atmosphere is good; my dad is happy there. The rooms are clean and bright. Also my dad is really happy with the staff. They're very helpful, even going beyond what might require of them. They do have activities, and they post them. My dad is interested in movies, so he is always looking those up.

I visited this facility

We found United Methodist Homes nice. It’s an older facility. The rooms were being renovated, and that was more of an apartment complex. My wife was corresponding with them and they were very good and very professional at getting back to us on some questions right away.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Both of my grandparents were residents of UMH prior to their deaths; my grandmother in the nursing home, and my grandfather in the assisted living facility. This review specifically focuses on the assisted living facility.Hilltop is conveniently located on Deyo Hill Road in Johnson City. The grounds are well-kept, the building is generally well taken care of and well -decorated, and the staff is helpful and kind. I do feel that Grandpa's bathroom could have been cleaned better, though - it was not always pleasant to use it! Our main concern was that my grandfather would have a very difficult time adjusting to living there, as he was quite an independent man. We were pleasantly surprised to watch him flourish under the warm attention of the staff, and excited to hear of his many adventures with other residents (while he slyly displayed candy bars he won playing games). Hilltop featured quite a number of activities, and Grandpa happily partook in them all. He also often raved about how good the food was, although I cannot vouch for it personally!I would definitely recommend Hilltop to others.

I visited this facility

Following a fall, my mother was moved from the Sun Unit at Hilltop to the Star Unit. Hilltop is forcing us to pay for both units as my mother rehabs from a broken pelvis. The cost is in excess of $18,000 per month. This is not fair to a lovely elderly lady. They are looting her assets!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was moved to this skilled Nursing Facility from another Unit under the same UMH umbrella, I would rate the other facility separately because to me it's rating is entirely different and the care did not compare to the STAR unit. The care on this unit the STAR unit of the James G Johnston Nursing Home is 5 star, the nurses and CNA's are exactly what is hoped for when the agonizing decision is made to move a loved one from Assisted Living to the next level of care. I feel the STAR unit is an excellent unit and is highly under-rated. They know how to care for loved ones at any level of dementia and do so with skill, grace and pride, and they also consider the families. The unit is a dementia unit and sometimes it is difficult to visit because of the level of destruction the disease has imposed on some of the Residents. But that is not the fault of the staff on this unit they care for each Resident based on individual need, and do not discriminate, each Resident's need seems to be met. I recommend the STAR Unit of UMH which is NOT to be confused with the SUN unit at the Assisted Living Level, which I would give not nearly as positive a rating..
