I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents moved into Bridgeway of Bensenville. I liked that they were able to socialize with other people in their age group. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the facility is organized and clean-looking. I know there are numerous activities, but I'm not sure how good they are yet. They had a deal going on for two rooms versus the price of a single room. Two rooms for the price of one. So they had a special going on to get the apartment cheaper.

My parents used to live at Bridgeway of Bensenville. When they first moved in, it was really beautiful and wonderful. But they just raised the rent, and they changed their chef to a low-quality chef, so the food isn't even as good as it used to be. And they were constantly having water leaking from their ceilings, like in their hallways. Their activities were wonderful, but I wish they were geared a little bit more towards people with more disabilities because my stepmother is blind. The activities weren't geared towards the blind or the people who had Alzheimer's, but my parents did enjoy quite a few of them. They had happy hours and stuff like that. And the facility itself was very beautiful. It looked very modern, except they were having water leakage. The staff was very wonderful, but they overturned quite often. They were very nice, every one of them, but they just didn't stay very long.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have been living at Bridgeway of Bensenville since 2020. I'm in independent, although there are some assisted living people in here, too. The staff is pleasant. One of the big things was the price. My aunt who is living at the other place in a one-bedroom, one-bath is paying almost double of what I am paying for a two- bedroom, two-bath at this place. They're all friendly. The person at the reception desk who was here for the longest time just retired, but there's another woman that's there now for the last few months, and she's very, very pleasant, too. The nurse is very helpful with all the COVID stuff. We've been doing testing quite regularly, and so far, so good for me. I get breakfast and dinner, but the assisted living people get three meals a day. The food is pretty good. There are days when I'm not crazy about it, but generally we have several choices for appetizers. There's usually a soup, a fruit cup, cottage cheese, and salad and you can choose two from there. There are usually two choices for entrees and then a dessert. If you don't like the dessert, they usually have ice cream. It's pretty balanced. The facility is quite good. There is the option of the garage, which I take in the winter, but to save a little bit of money, I park outside, like now. That's $65 a month. The rent includes utilities, so I really don't pay for anything except my TV. They have a lot of activities throughout the month. For instance, on Friday, we're going to celebrate the birthdays for this month and it's going to be a luau. They are even bringing in Hawaiian dancers. There are a few things that need to be done. Like everybody else, they're short of staff sometimes. There are a few maintenance things that they could improve on, like window washing, especially on the outside. They have been improving on washing in the hallways and stuff, but there are a few miscellaneous issues that need to be taken care of. I'm actually on the resident council and we have a monthly meeting and we bring up different things to management and tell them what we would like them to do and we get some results. This was the best value for what you get. Some of the apartments had washers and dryers, but I'm right around the corner from our laundry room for this area. There are two laundry rooms each floor, and they have two washers and two dryers in them.

I've been in Bridgeway of Bensenville for almost 11 years now. We have a doctor here in the building, but just once a year or so do I see him. I like the friendliness of everyone here. The staff and everyone was very friendly and willing to help with anything we might have a problem with. They're doing a lot of remodeling here and they have made a lot of improvements, which is good. We have two meals, breakfast and dinner. The food overall has been good. We have bingo and we have movies. I don't participate in a lot of them because it's not to my liking, but there's lots of craft things. We have a bus here and they take us to the store and to different locations and to the doctors and I like that part of it. The staff has been great. We're getting what we deserve here.

I visited this facility

We toured the assisted living at Bridgeway of Bensenville. It was very nice. The staff showed us everything. We saw where to sign up first, the beauty shop, the floor that the assisted living folks would be on, and their dining room. She showed us a couple of rooms. She showed us a carpeted versus non-carpeted. She showed a studio, which is sort of a 1-bedroom. She even kind enough to try to find a room on the first floor, so my mom wouldn't have to either walk or just travel too far anywhere. The staff was very nice. The facility itself was very nice, open, clean, and friendly. They have an outdoor space where you can go outside. There's a beauty shop and extra curricular activities for the folks. They have kind of the same things as the independent. We met the chef on the tour. Once we finished the tour, they gave us a couple of go-container meals for my mom and me. It was very good. We both got something different, and we both enjoyed it.

I recently moved my parents into a 2 bedroom apartment at Bridgeway Of Bensenville. They have made lots of new friends by attending all the daily activities. Dads vision has deteriorated recently which required him to sell his car, but that hasn't slowed them down since Bridgeway provides transportation to everywhere they need to go. Overall we are very pleased with Bridgeway!

Bridgeway of Bensenville has been a blessing for my father. At 91 years old he prides himself on living independently. At Bridgeway he is treated with respect by administration and caregivers alike. He considers the employees his friends. He can choose from a list of activities but is often content to Just bury himself in his library in his own sanctuary, a studio first corner room with a little patio. He can choose what he wants from the dining hall menu or where to go on the facility bus. Our family has seen no change in Dad’s overall appreciation of Bridgeway & realize how blessed we ALL feel about this caring place. Food at Bridgeway is good tho Dad is one who has always liked spicy and piping hot entrees. Hard to get spicy or piping hot in this or any senior facility we guess. Recent updates to the decor are beautiful and inviting. So if independent living is what you seek we would say put this facility on your list.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing your experience. At Bridgeway of Bensenville, we value giving our residents independence. We are so glad to hear that your father has been enjoying it at our facility. We appreciate his kind words about our staff, and your kind words about our renovation. Thank you for choosing Bridgeway of Bensenville!

I didn't like Bridgeway Senior Living at all. It smelled like urine, and to me, it looked like an old school that they converted into a senior rehab and living. The staff was okay, but I wouldn't consider that place. They need to clean more and make it homier.

My aunt's apartment is very spacious. It has the full kitchen that she wanted AND a balcony! She has a one bedroom and it is more than enough space for her. Just ask her how she likes her apartment! She will invite you in for a tour. She is very proud of it! I only met a few staff, but they were all very nice and friendly. My aunt has told me that they respond right away when she needed help fixing her TV and connecting her internet. My aunt loves the activities! She is very social and participates in everything she can. She has also met many new people just by going to the activities. She told me she wishes she did this move years ago!

Thank you Mary for your review. We are pleased to be able to provide such a wonderful experience for you and your loved one here. Thank you for choosing Bridgeway!

I would like to give a big five to Bridgeway of Bensenville. It was a blessing. They offer and provide respite care, which is very helpful to us. We left my brother-in-law there a few times for a week or two. He began to like it actually; he didn't even want to come home when we were ready to go get him. A couple of times, he got the same room, which was actually a double for two people. It was large and he loved it. He was in the memory care section on the second floor. He has his own balcony and that was a plus for us too. I'm very impressed with it. When we walked in, they had two-way fireplaces, which face two different sides of the lobby. It was very nice and very impressive. The staff members were great. The sales lady knew her stuff and has been there for a few years. We were very pleased to meet her. She was very helpful to us. They have a large dining room area, a workout area, a snack room, and a library. They also have a small room where they show movies. There's a piano right there. People come in to play and entertain them. On the second floor, they have a large entertainment room, which is also used for church in the morning. On the third floor, they have a smaller dining area, which is usually where my brother-in-law goes. He can go to the one downstairs, but he preferred this bigger one. He said it was less crowded and nicer. We really like Bridgeway a lot, but they do not provide Medicaid. My brother-in-law is on a very low income, so he could not afford to stay there. He could afford it temporarily, but not for a long time. Nevertheless, the staff members were very helpful. They were all qualified. Everybody was friendly. You could tell they were good workers. My brother-in-law said the food was great. The value for the money was appropriate.

Provider Response

Blanca, Thank you so much for your thorough and helpful review. It is deeply appreciated.

My mom has thrived since moving to Bridgeway, she is eating better than ever, meeting new friends and seems so happy now, best decision we could have helped her make. She has gained her independence back thanks to Bridgeway!

I visited this facility

I toured Bridgeway of Bensenville. It's beautiful, they have a lot of different activities that the people can participate in, and that was amazing. I would give them the highest rating. They're professional and well-kept, but they're private, and we're looking for a place where we can get help financially. It looks more like a condominium instead of a senior living facility. The day I was there, they were doing a fiesta, people were coming to lunch, they had activities, and they invited the community. Everybody was cordial, but there was no real cordial mix. It wouldn't have been a good fit for Mom.

Provider Response

Busybee, Thanks so much for your beautiful review! God bless you. We really appreciate it.

Bridgeway of Bensenville seemed old and very complicated to get through, but it was clean and nice. It wasn't for me or my dad. The nursing staff was very friendly. I didn't like the layout of it. It was far from me.

We discovered Bridgeway when our loved one was in Bridgeway Christian Living (now Bridgeway Senior Living) undergoing rehab. My concern was always what would happen to him if something happened to me and I couldn't care for him. I had no idea that there was another building on the campus until a friend sent me information on the internet. I came over to see what was available, and after seeing a number of apartmetns that were too small, I was shown an empty 3 bedroom apartment which had been empty for 2 years (the same length of time since my loved one's accident)- it was perfect for our needs and wiht a beeautiful view. When I went to report to my loved one what I had seen, he came over and when he wheeled into the aprtment, his comment was "We'll take it!" We have loved our apartment (now almost 8 years later) and have felt "at home" at Bridgeway from the moment we set eyes on the huge beautiful fireplace and lovedly dining room setting- a very welcoming sight! When our family came to visit the irst time, our yyoung grandson opened the door and exclaimed "Grandma, it's just like your home!" Yes, it is very much our home. The friendly and hospitable atmosphere, delicious meals (not having to cook!), friendly staff, employees and residents, plus numerous activities from which to choose, make our retirement years almost perfect!

Provider Response

Bill, Marylin, Wow! Thank you so much for this beautiful letter. We deeply appreciate this, as we do your wonderful smiles and good cheer. I will let the staff know about your kind review. God bless.

Bridgeway of Bensenville has senior living, assisted living, and independent houses. It's a whole community. The room was OK. I wouldn't call it spacious, but I wouldn't call it cramped either. The activities were good. They have all kinds of activities. They showed us the library, the kitchen, the different types of rooms that they have, the workout room, and the media room. The staff was knowledgeable and busy.

Bridgeway of Bensenville was a very nice facility. It didn't have as many features as the other places, but the person who gave me the tour was very informative and helpful. There was nothing spectacular about the dining area. I saw a 1-bedroom apartment, and it was nice. The living area was a little small, which concerned me because I have bookcases. They have general activities like cards and a small area for exercise equipment.

My aunt is in Bridgeway of Bensenville in a two-bedroom apartment. It's perfect. I am able to bring her living room furniture, dining table, bed, and dresser. She shares it with a roommate who has her own separate bedroom, closets and bathrooms. The only thing that they share is the common areas, living room, and the kitchenette. Everything is included: three meals a day, laundry, and cable television. The only thing I supply her with is her medicines and toiletries. They have different activities every day and a little bus that takes them around. They are all active and don't just sit in their rooms. She was as happy as she can be. She loves it.

The staff at Bridgeway of Bensenville were extremely friendly. The room size was nice, and the layout was good. The price was a little bit high, but the place is very nice. They have a common area where people can get together and play cards or socialize. They have meals that can be brought to the room. The grounds are really nice, where people can walk around outside.

My mother knew about Bridgeway, and they were very friendly there. This is a small facility, and the staff was all very nice. The rooms were nice, about the typical size, and the kitchen was not as nice I would say as the other facility we visited, but the balconies were beautiful. They have crafts, a fitness center, and a game room. They were very nice and very friendly. The prices were very good, but it’s the farthest away from me.

I am so thankful that we made an appointment to see Bridgeway of Bensenville because it was half the price of everywhere else we went and my aunt-in-law is getting a lot more at Bridgeway than most of those expensive places. The room is gorgeous. She actually has her own apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a dining room. I like their staff the best. They are very polite, very kind, and they watch over her if I have any problems. If I just call them up and ask that they check on her, they will walk down to her room and check on her no matter what time it was. It is a very nice facility. I had no problems with them at all and she is so happy there.

When we walked in to Bridgeway of Bensenville, we felt that that was it. They were very, very nice and friendly. The open area was very nice as well as the apartment and it's not that expensive. The people are wonderful and really make you feel at home. The food is very good. I'll recommend this place to other people.

I visited this facility

I really like the Bridgeway because of the relaxed atmosphere from the moment I drove up to the ease of getting into the building. There is plenty of parking. I was greeted by a receptionist behind the desk at the entrance who was helpful, but also guarded, wanting to ensure the privacy of the residents. The desk was not at all institutional looking, more like a hotel desk. The lobby itself is spacious and there was music piped in. Several residents were sitting on comfortable chairs chatting with one another. It was very clean and comfortable. In the middle of the lobby was a lovely dining room. When I was there it was lunch time and sparse, but I later went into a small eatery on the first floor which I found to be very reasonable and good. It's probably the only fresh fruit salad that you would get for under $2.50. What I also liked about the building is that there is a washroom on the first floor and you can also use stairs as well as the elevator to get to the second floor. On the second floor there is a wellness center and small gym. There is also a large multipurpose activity room in which residents gather for different lectures. The apartments were very nice, clean and had all the amenities. The halls were clean and well ventilated. There were no bad smells anywhere. The only downside is that there seemed to be little diversity in terms of religion and race. The Bridgeway advertises itself as a "Christian" facility. There also is not a lot in the area nearby in terms of restaurants and stores.
