Reviews of Oaks of Bensalem

I visited this facility
The Oaks of Bensalem was in the process of remodeling, so it was chaotic and a little haphazard. I didn’t think it was a stress-free environment. I felt that the residents were not being given the right amount of attention because they were remodeling. Mostly remodeling was being done on the memory care where my mother would be, and it was in poor shape. The dining area looked fine. The staff was nice.
Our community has undergone a complete transformation from floor to ceiling. As with any renovation, there were bumps in the road, but everyone, especially the residents, has benefited from the hard work and new aesthetic our building offers in both our Personal Care and Memory Care units. Each unit now has it's own outdoor garden for the residents to enjoy and a full-powered generator was installed in the event of a power loss.

The Oaks of Bensalem is a nice facility. The rooms are nice. The food is good, and she is happy there. The whole place is nice. There are a few things that we are a little surprised about, but overall it is a good place. I will say we are satisfied with the care. I will recommend them to others.

The people at Oaks of Bensalem are extremely caring, the staff is very efficient, and the facility itself had kind of a warmth to it -- kind of like an extended home for my mother-in-law. She was there for a 2-week respite care, and she ended up having a roommate. They became very good friends, so she had a very good experience while she was there. We had lunch there one day, and it was very good. They had the Olympics on in the evening for the people, and every night they watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, Bingo and parlor games. One woman across the hall from my mother-in-law has a son who plays the harp for people for an hour and a half, so she really enjoyed that.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
The assisted living facility where my grandmother resided was had both positive and negative qualities. As far as the staff goes I found everyone there friendly and outgoing. Anytime my grandmother needed something or us for that matter, we were provided almost immediate service. The staff engaged us and my grandmother in conversation and made us feel comfortable with my grandmother being under their care. The rooms were nothing special. I mean they had a decent sized TV, nice bathroom but they were a little on the tiny side. The one negative about the rooms is they did seem to have an odor that was not exactly pleasant. I don't know how to say this without it sounding bad but it had the odor of a hospital not of a place where people would be living for extended periods of time. The food also was just okay. Some days were better then other but they didn't provide a wide selection each day so if they served something you did not like the other options they provided you were limited. I had some good meals and some bad meals there when I would visit my grandmother. I found the breakfast and lunch to be pretty decent while the dinner was not that great. The facility did provide a lot of activities for the residents which was nice for them to be able to interact with each other. I remember really enjoying attending a magic show that they had for the residents around Christmas time last year. Overall I think it is a pretty decent facility with excellent staff.

Visited this facility
Visited this place while considering places for an older friend recently. Strikes one as one of the posh retirement centers within the philly area. Interior layout looks nice and staffing design, it would seem, is tailored to meet every resident need. Staff are mostly warm and friendly, one I saw, sat patiently over an hour during patient feeding. Most residents also indicated a stay period of ten years or more. There are also closed circuit unit cameras monitoring entry and exit from the building, indicating attention to security. Other than the fact that affordability could be an issue, there may be no reason not to consider this place.
