My mother has moved into Allegria at the Oaks. What I liked best is there are no set visiting hours. They're well taken care of there. They like the food. The only complaint of all the residents out there is they feed them too much. That's what they say, "They keep feeding us." I go out there and see what they're eating and the food looks good. They have all kinds of stuff. They got bingo and card games. They're doing something every day with them. The staff is great. They're all lovely and personable. They're always checking on the residents. I never go in there and see the staff sitting down, ever, and I'm in there every day. There are activities during the whole day, even at night. It needs a couple of updates on the building. Otherwise, it's not run down. Some rooms probably have to be painted, not extensive repairs, just cosmetic stuff.

Right now, Mom is in a place called Allegria at the Oaks and it's excellent. She's in the memory care part. They have plenty of activities and it's a smaller place. The food's not that good though; it's just OK. The aides and the nurses there are very good. The activities are great. They take them to the casino, they take them out to eat, and they have bingo. Tomorrow, they're going to have a hula party. They celebrate all the holidays. They have a movie night with popcorn. They give them snacks when they play bingo. They'll have sometimes soft pretzels and sometimes root beer floats. They're very active there. After they eat, they do different activities. They have a rest period, then they have lunch. Then after lunch from about 2:00 to about 3:30, they have more activities. It's a smaller facility, so they get better care. It's laid out nicely and it's clean. It doesn't smell like urine. If you want a private room, it's more money. She has a roommate, and they have their own bathroom and the two of them share. They both have a single bed, a closet, a nightstand, and a light. They both have their own TVs. It's a nice little place. The only thing is when your money's done, you're out of there, so that's our problem. If I had the money, I'd keep her there. They have a nice garden on the first floor. They grow watermelons and plants, and then upstairs they have benches. They have a gazebo.

Allegria at the Oaks took us for a tour and showed us a little bit of everything. It was a short tour. The people were very, very nice. It seems like a very nice place. They showed us rooms, and their rooms seemed to be nice. They're not that big, but they were very clean. That was a place where you were allowed to bring your own furniture if you wanted to, and that was a good thing. I didn't see any activities, but I saw a group of people sitting around, and they were singing a song with somebody. We walked around the building, and they gave us an idea of what it was going to be like and stuff like that, and that was very helpful.

The gentleman in Allegria at the Oaks, Wesley, was the one who showed us all the activities and the different-sized rooms in the assisted living. When I said that my father-in-law would probably need a little more intensive care, he took us up to the memory care floor and showed us the rooms up there. He then showed us the dining room (which was very clean and appropriate) and everything that they provided. It was a very good tour. He was very professional, very kind, and explained everything very well. The facility was very nice and well-kept. They have games, church on Sundays, activities, and a garden that my in-laws could sit outside and enjoy.

Everything with Allegria at the Oaks has been good. I worked with Leah, she's one of the directors there. Any time I have questions about anything, she calls me back and they give me all the answers. They're on lockdown right now because of the outbreak, so they've been Facetiming my dad with me. He has dementia, so he has his good days and bad days, but all in all, he's good so far. So our move-in experience has been good. They have two different parts, one is just care and the other one's memory care. He's not used to eating the facility food. It's very, very clean. I've never seen an assisted living or nursing home so clean. I like that there's not a lot of people, they have about 90 people in total. Right now, they just went back to activities because they had a COVID outbreak. They have bingo, music, and they play games.

Negative: The food is horrible. There are no amenities. Sparse, barren atmosphere. Given lower level bedroom. Multiple spider sitings. Positive: most staff are friendly.
