I visited this facility
Bliss Place had spacious, clean apartments and a good set up for laundry. They did not provide a lot of health care, but they had places in the city where they sometimes sent their residents. The staff was very helpful and showed me one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, which I thought were quite spacious. You could bring your own furniture. They had transportation to take you to doctors' appointments, grocery shopping, and some entertainment events.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
My mother and step-dad were at the Bliss House before. They were all very nice people over there, and I didn't have any problem with that. They were good to my mom, and that was when my step-dad was still alive. My concerns came after my step-dad passed away. My mom's got Alzheimer's, and I was bringing her home with me and letting her stay with me at night while he was in the hospital because I didn't want to leave her over there by herself because she wouldn't stay, she'd cry. I was a little worried because she fell and broke her hip there. She could go back, but I knew that in assisted living their care at night leaves a lot to be desired. They don't have good care at night, and I was afraid that if she fell in the apartment, she wouldn't know how to call for help because they've only got two strings to pull, and one was behind her bed while the other one was in the bathroom. So, if she fell in her living room or kitchen, she was in bad luck, and she might lay there for so long before somebody could find her because they just didn't have enough staff to look in on everybody all the time. She wouldn't go to Bingo; she wouldn't do anything because she didn't want to. They had a nice-sized living room, a kitchen, a big bedroom, and a bathroom. It was a nice apartment. It is not a bad place, but my worst fear was the night care. During the day, they were fine. There was a CNA on the staff, and that was all there was at night, and I am just not comfortable with that. And I have nothing against the CNA. She may know her stuff, but to me they should have at least an LPN or an RN on the staff at night. But, it is a really nice facility.

I visited this facility
I was raised in Bedford and my parents lived there for more than 60 years. So we decided to look for a place just near my parents house. She is currently with a different facility and we were thinking of moving her nearer to her house. I had the chance to tour Bliss House and the place looks neat. They have different programs to keep the residents entertained and having fun. The staff is nice and friendly. It looks like a happy place. We are still in the process of making decisions whether to move her or not. My brother thinks she should stay in her current facility so if ever we come up to a decision to move her nearer to her place, it would surely be here.
