The people at Brookdale Bay City Assisted Living were friendly. There were people putting puzzles together and they had some kind of activities like bingo. It seemed to be pretty clean. There weren't any bathrooms in every room though. They had to bathe elsewhere, like a community shower type thing, and I didn't care for that. It was very expensive, but all of these facilities are expensive. There were very few people in that particular place. The community areas where you would sit in a living room with a bunch of other people were very small. I wasn't thrilled that with the colors and the way it was decorated. It's all dark colors. They don't take Medicaid waivers either.

My brother is a resident of Brookdale Bay City. So far the people there are very nice and accommodating and they seem to get along with what they do, but most importantly, he seems to like it there. I like it too -- it's in Bay city and it's small -- there's not a lot of clients there. I live in California and when I called them, they answered my questions. They have a salon and they do bingo. So far, I am satisfied with the care they provide.

We actually went to the memory care of Brookdale Bay City. The way it was setup wasn't as cheerful, it didn't feel as happy, and it was more patriotic. There's also a big difference with the way the people were served at the dining table. The residents were just right across from the kitchen. I guess they have a menu that you can order off of, but it seemed that the kitchen was right near the dining room where the residents were eating. The staff was informative, gave us a full tour, but we only went to the memory care sode, and didn't go into assisted living. It was clean, it didn't smell, it was decorated, but they used a lot of brown, and it was basically just one room size, which were more like studios.

I liked that Brookdale Bay City was a small community. The staff was caring. My dad was there for three days and he was on hospice. They played bingo and the residents seemed to like that. The food smelled good and they had their own chef. They had a little day room and they can go outside. They did a lot of things in their community room.

I visited Brookdale. It was a smaller place, the rooms were adequate, and they had less offerings. They're average. They had a small very staff, they don't have a big activity room, but I think it's adequate for what they have. The gentleman was very nice, but he was selling me a sales pitch, and it wasn't welcoming.

Personally for a living facility I thought it was pretty good. The rooms were small to me, my grandmother thought they were big though. I also thought it smelled weird. The good thing about it was that the rooms were easy to move around in for people in wheel chairs. Also the employees took good care of my grandma and other people living there. They also kept the rooms very clean. The people that I talked to that lived their and worked their were also very polite. That alone surprised me. Overall if I needed a assisted living facility I would choose this one.
