I visited this facility

I went to Brookdale Riverwalk. The only thing I didn't care for was the layout. The hallways seemed to be a little smaller, so it seemed a little bit more confined, but everything else was top-notch. It was nice. I liked their dining area. I liked their game room. I liked their entertainment. I liked everything they had. The staff was very helpful and very understanding. I did not observe any activities, but they gave me the list and told me what they had to offer. I've been going to these places at lunchtime, so the dining area was very full of people.

We toured Brookdale Riverwalk. I had viewed other facilities, but this seemed to be a good match for my uncle. The staff was very informative, and cordial, and introduced me and my uncle to everyone at the facility. The staff also explained the benefits of living at the facility. We saw a room that was available at the time and had lunch with a friend of his who lives there. My uncle was very impressed by the number of available activities. Transportation was another concern and so was location and its proximity to me. So, overall, he was very, very impressed with it. We saw a studio apartment with a large bathroom. He's wheelchair-bound, so there's plenty of room for his wheelchair to go into the bathroom and up to the sink into the shower area. It had its own kitchenette, too. In that particular wing, there was always staff on call 24/7 for him. They would check with him periodically at any time of the day or night. It was a very nice room and a good location. He was very pleased. The dining facility was available all day into the early evening hours, so anytime he felt like being able to eat, he would be able to go into the dining room. He didn't have to go in at a certain time. They have exercise classes, movies, computer classes, and a nice library. He's visually impaired and the library has a large magnifier where you put a book underneath so he can read the book. He was very impressed by the library. We didn't go outside of the facility to see the courtyard, but they had one with tables and chairs, so he could be outside if he wanted to. There was a daily list of available activities and a calendar for the month. There's also a menu for the month. It checked off everything that he wanted to. It was very, very good food with a good selection. Brookdale is often a busy road but it's a larger facility and it's gated so it's a little bit secluded.

The tour experience we had at Brookdale Riverwalk was wonderful. Courtney gave us the tour and all the information we needed, and she was terrific. It was a beautiful place. I'm sure my mom would be very comfortable there. I checked out the menu and I wouldn't have minded eating lunch there. It looked pretty good. The units were very nice, even the studio apartment. It was very well set up. If my mom isn't able to go home, then Brookdale Riverwalk is where we would like to put her. They had pretty much everything. They had a wonderful dining room. They had game rooms and entertainment that came in regularly. They had activities every day, all day. The transportation to doctor's appointments and shopping was all provided. So, it looked like they had everything you needed.

Brookdale Riverwalk was very clean. The people were very polite and professional. We went through the memory care unit, and my wife wasn't impressed with it because of the lack of people we'd seen milling around the place. We went into the craft rooms, and there was nobody in there, and very few in the dining room. The facility was clean. The staff was very nice, informative, and customer service-oriented. They had a courtyard.

We chose Brookdale Riverwalk because it's closer and my husband's familiar with that place. They had a lot of patients that were up and moving around. A couple of other places had patients just sitting, either sleeping in a chair or just not doing anything at all and not having any activities. I was impressed because I was introduced to several employees that have been there, one was five years, and two were 15 years. The staff is very nice, very polite, and very knowledgeable. They have a salon, they have a lady come and do their nails, and they have a podiatrist come in. The facility was very clean.

Brookdale Riverwalk is a secure community, and I like that. It was fresh, there wasn't a hospital smell or anything like that in their assisted living area. The rooms were nice and big, even the studios. The price is a little steep, but I'm trying to work with the VA to see if I can get some assistance. The conversation I had with Corey, was very great; she's a great salesperson. I am a person of color, so I was looking to see if they had any people in the assisted living of color, and they did. So, that was a win-win for me

I've been to Brookdale Riverwalk for my husband. It's a fabulous, beautiful, and lovely community. The people that are helping are wonderful. The staff, as far as placement, are wonderful. It's an up-to-date facility. I've seen the rooms and they are lovely. I like its location, too.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Riverwalk was a much larger facility, and their two-bedroom cottages were much nicer than the other place because they had central heating and air conditioning and that's what my home has and that's what I'm accustomed to. Those were pretty nice. They were just quite a ways away from the main building and the main building is where you would go for entertainment and dining. They have a pool there right next door to it, too. You could walk, but most people would probably drive from their cottage up to the main building for dining and entertainment. They had a gym, a library, and a coffee room where you could go in the morning and get a cup of coffee without actually dining there. They had a big dining room and a mail room in the main building. The staff members during the tour were very good. They knew what they were talking about. The one drawback is they cost a little bit more than the other place. It's structured for independent, assisted, nursing, and memory care, so they've got everything you would ever need. You might have to move to a different facility on their property if that's required and they will assist in making that happen. They don't kick you to the curb. I ate there and their food was pretty good. Their main building was very nice.

We visited the independent living of Brookdale Riverwalk and they were excellent. It's incredible what they have to offer. I call it a gated community but you can still get in and they leave the gate open between 8:00 and 5:00. It was immaculate, the independent living cottages were just beautiful, and the rooms that we saw that were inside the main building were exceptional. The cleanliness and the updated parts were just beautiful. We are going there again to have a meal. We were sent some coupons for a free meal and I'm really excited about that.

The staff at Brookdale Riverwalk was really friendly and helpful. The rooms in the assisted living were nice. I'm kind of more interested in the memory care, but the rooms were not as nice as the assisted ones. You'd be kind of left in there in memory care, but they're still nice. They have a whole planned out schedule for each day for them to do (activities and stuff). The memory care people were just kind of get wheeled around. They're in wheelchairs and some of them walk with their walkers, but they all looked good and well taken care of. They had a good food selection on the menu. The only thing is the price is a little higher than I thought. Otherwise, I wouldn't change anything else.

I had an in-person tour of Brookdale Riverwalk last year. I had a friend staying there. I will say that Brookdale is the number one facility in Bakersfield, and honestly, it's a five-star all the way. They treat you well there. The place is beautiful inside. If I had to pick a place in Bakersfield to put my sister, that would be the place, but it's out of our budget range, and it's very expensive. It's a very, very nice, beautiful facility. It's in a very good neighborhood. The food is fantastic. I've eaten there; it's a five-star. Everybody there was just super nice. It's the best facility. I would go here if I could afford for me to stay here. They have a beauty salon, and they provide transportation, but I don't know what the cost is. They have an excellent menu for the meals. You pick your meals over there. It's a nice place. I have nothing bad to say about this place.

I really like Brookdale Riverwalk at Calloway Drive in Bakersville, but when I went to visit their skilled nursing, they said they were not taking any long-term care patients right now because of COVID. It was kind of empty because they would prefer to take people who are there temporarily and are recuperating from surgery. As far as long-term care goes, they're not taking any new patients right now. It was a good place, though, and I liked it. That's the only place I really have gone to see. I first visited their assisted living in July. Last Monday, I visited their skilled nursing. I liked it very much. If there would have been an opening, I would have gladly put my husband there. It's clean and the people are friendly. They're just not taking anyone for long-term care right now. I was disappointed because it's close to us and it's right off the freeway, so it would have been perfect. The staff was very friendly and very nice. They made sure I got a COVID test before I visited, which was good. It is something that would have benefited my husband. The facility itself is very nice and very well kept. The environment is very friendly. You see a lot of senior citizens because they have apartments there and people live there. I know they have different levels of care too.

I believe the tour we had with Brookdale Riverwalk was successful, and it was very insightful. The facility to me was a friendly facility, and I felt like the atmosphere was good for seniors. They had many activities and the rooms were nice. I was very excited that they offered the laundry service. That's the only facility that offered the full laundry service, not just linens. So, that was nice. When I was there, they had happy hour, and they were serving, and they had live music, and everyone that I spoke with just seemed happy. And it was just a very, very nice tour, and the price was right. They had a variety of apartments. The one-bedroom apartment was spacious and the bathrooms were gorgeous, just what a person would need for anything. All the bathrooms were the same. They were all nice, everything was clean. I always smell to make sure everything is OK and everything smelled good. My mother loves to read books, so they had a library for her to read, and they gave me a calendar with all of the events that they have, and they take tours and little trips out, and church was a big deal for her. They have a church service, and then she can also be taken to her own church on Sundays. It looked like a hotel, it was beautiful. It was three stories. It was very nice.

Brookdale Riverwalk was a very nice place, but at the same time, it was overpopulated. It was very clean and nicely maintained, so that was very good, and the staff has been very helpful with all my questions, paperwork, and everything like that. Their menu had some nice meals on it, and the good thing was you have the option to go out and dine every week at different places, not only to get out of the facility, but it's just like a little field trip to get out of the place. I like the entertainment and activities that they have too.

My mom moved into the memory care of Brookdale Riverwalk. It was a good experience, from the administrator all the way down to the staff members. I have met several of them, and I have been in close contact with the administrator of the memory care, Martha. They have answered all of our questions, and they have offered safe visiting for family members during COVID. They have individual designated spaces where you can bring your family, and they have appointments for these times, so it's not overrun in the facility. They have so many activities, and the activity director sends out calendars that let you know exactly what they are eating. They had that online, and if they see that the patient is not tolerating the food, they immediately check with the doctor to see if they can change them to a different type of diet. It's really been a good experience. My mom is a picky eater, and she has a denture issue, so they switched her to puree, and she's eating it just as well as regular food. She enjoys her food. I have seen her with juice and some snacks, and then her dinner. It's worth every penny that my parents have put aside to take care of it.

We toured Brookdale Riverwalk, and it was wonderful. We enjoyed it. It was beautiful. The room was as expected; it was small. It is what it is, but it looked pretty nice and it looked like it could accommodate my parents' needs. I only met one person, Courtney, and she was wonderful, sweet, answered all our questions, and seemed knowledgeable. They had everything I would ask about. It was like living on a cruise ship. It looked great, and they should add it to the list for investigation.

Brookdale Riverwalk was a big facility, and they had a separate building for the memory care. I visited the whole thing, and they gave me a very nice tour. They had great accommodations. They were courteous, and they made sure that I understood everything that they had there. It was a very nice place, and it had a hotel kind of atmosphere. I was impressed.

My mother stayed at Brookdale Riverwalk's assisted living before moving into its independent living facility. It was nice, clean, and very kept up. The rooms were nice and clean. They had volleyball, bingo nights, a salon right down the street, and her apartment was really close to the trash can. They had pool exercises and there were activities going on each day. The staff was always very nice, polite, and courteous, but she has told me otherwise. The food we had there was bland. They had a room where they play cards and draw things, and they had a movie room downstairs.

Brookdale Riverwalk was extremely nice and clean and they've got friendly staff. The activities were good and they had an activities director and a calendar of activities every day. The residents have a pendant or a bracelet that they push to call a staff member, so no matter where they are in the facility, whether they fall down or if they need help, they can get help. They've got a gym and a salon, too.

I was impressed with everything about Brookdale Riverwalk ... except for the cost. The overall feel was very good and they have everything that you might need. They have villas, apartments, a very nice central location, and Alzheimer's care as well as dementia care. The facilities were separated but within a compound type of area. It's very clean and very nice. We went through everything. They introduced me to the people that would help guide the yoga classes, library readings, walks, and that sort of thing.

My parents liked Brookdale Riverwalk a lot. They liked the rooms and way they were laid out. They were large enough for them to be able to bring the basics that they would need. They liked that it had the different stages of care so that it was like a continuum-aging place situation. It was very clean and well-maintained on the inside and out. This would be the place that they would want to live at.

Dad was already there in the skilled nursing, so it was really easy to transition him. He chose this community because he likes it which made a big difference and since we want him to be somewhere he likes. The food is good, and the staff is nice. It’s one of the few places that will never turn you away of you run out of money. They won’t take you out of the community for that, but if you are already a resident, they will keep you there for the rest of your life. We felt very comfortable with that because we don’t she will end up running out of money. He had been to several skilled nursing facilities for the last five years and she said that’s the one place he wanted to go and he liked it there. They have nice grounds, it feel safe.

The rooms were really big. They were well staffed. They were very clean. The meals looked very nice. It was a cushier scenario, and the price was higher than all the others in the area. They had a wonderful activity program. They had trips for the ones who could go out. They had activities going on at different times every day. The lunch that I had when I went to a nursing conference there was very good. I would give them a 5 provided you could afford it.

I've been to this community visiting someone down there. It was the cheapest one I saw. I have the money to get in there, but they won't take me. They had nice rooms. They have nice equipment. They had all sorts of different games, and they have some people come in and put on music and sing. They have a living room and kitchen combination, and they have a separate bedroom and a big bathroom. I ate dinner several times; it was very good. It was a real nice dining room.
