I visited this facility

Ascension Living Fox Knoll Village was very dated and I would hate to put my father in there. The staff was friendly, but the place needed updating, and there were lots of weird smells. The activity list was not that great, either. They all said an outing to the casino, Burger King, and shopping at Walmart. It was not very engaging. The staff who gave me the tour was fine. They were very friendly, answered a lot of questions, and spent a lot of time with me. The only reason I didn't give them a 1-star overall rating was because they were incredibly affordable.

I visited this facility

I saw Ascension Living Fox Knoll Village. What I liked best was it was cheaper than the others. What I liked least is it is an old hospital, so the facility is not as nice and they don't have direct access to the outside. Our uncle likes to go outside. They only have 14 or 15 memory care rooms and they don't have the services. It's on the fifth floor of an old hospital. If he was a different personality, that might have worked, but for him, it wouldn't be good. For memory care, they need to expand it and modernize it, giving them access to the first floor. I don't think they have the staffing. They have functions where they will bring them outside. They have a very nice courtyard, but the memory care people can't get to it unless they have an activity where they bring them all down at once. The staff members were fine. It's just there's not enough of them. They only had two people on a call. The memory care unit didn't have an activity calendar like the others did. They had a calendar, but it was mostly for assisted living. Cleanliness was fine.

I visited this facility

Ascension Living Fox Knoll Village was a much older facility. The hallways seemed pretty dark. The place seemed to be clean enough but it was just hard to see walking down the hall to the apartment because it was not very well-lit. The apartment that I saw was nice and big, but I was not impressed with the tour. The lady who was giving me the tour did not show me any other rooms where activities would be held. I had to wait for 15 minutes outside a locked door until she came over from another building to take me on the tour. All in all, I didn't have a real good feeling about it.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved in and chose it because it's closer to my cousin, and it's a real nice place. The staff is very nice. The apartments are great. Instead of a one-bedroom, I have a two-bedroom. They have a bus available to go shopping every Monday. We're going for ice cream this Friday, and we're going to a movie next week.

I visited this facility

Presence Fox Knoll was nice, but it didn't have a balcony, and my mom didn't feel comfortable there. The one-bedroom apartments were very spacious. Although they did not have a balcony, they had a good view of the park. They had a kitchen and a dining room, and they had a lot of different meal choices. There's a lot of walking because you have to go to the other building for activities, but they have a community room on every floor, and their own separate entrance. The staff was very informative and was willing to answer our questions. They're reasonably priced, but you have to pay for some of the utilities. Other than that, it wasn't a bad choice price wise.

I visited this facility

Presence Fox Knoll wouldn't accept my mother in their assisted living. I saw the memory care unit, but it wasn't a good fit for her. We went from the elevator to the fifth floor, and it seemed fine and clean. The staff was helpful. I saw people in the group area, and they were just sitting around and staring at the TV.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I loved Presence Fox Knoll. I would still be there, but my husband is of age and has dementia. He thought it was too expensive, and he no longer wanted to live there. It was nice, and everybody was nice. Everything was in this one building, and there was a skywalk if you wanted to go to the next building; you could go down the elevator and go upstairs to the next building into the assisted living and the activities, the chapel, the beauty shop and everything else over there. You got a light breakfast, and then they made dinner for you. It had a lot of activities and different things, and then they would take you grocery shopping. It was really nice, and I enjoyed it. The food was good.

Fox Knoll is my choice, and it has been completely remodeled. It’s right along Fox River. I’m getting two bedrooms, a kitchen and dining area, a bath, shower, closets and storage, three meals a day. You can move in at the lower levels, and because it was an old hospital, if you become ill, they have an immediate medical facility and you don’t need to move to a hospital. They have a laundry facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Provena Fox Knoll is a nice facility. The staff seemed really nice. Price wise I would say probably competitive. But it was an older facility. So as a result everything was kind of small and amenities were really not that great. The rooms were small. I didn't try the food. The dining area was okay and kind of plain. There's not a lot of activities. They're follow up was a little too aggressive. I did talked to a lady when we went out there for a tour. I told her that I wanted to see the place. But I wasn't in a position to make a decision right away because my mom and dad started to sell their house. I will say that she pestered me probably for the next 3 months.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

This particular assisted living provider was faith based. The staff, amenities and facilities were fantastic. All the nurses were very attentive and treated my great-grandmother with the highest amount of respect. Since this particular facility was connected to and run by a hospital the environment was run by high standards. I appreciate its faith-based association and all staff is kind. There is a chapel on the premises, which is very important to my great-grandmother. The facility is very clean and any requests are immediately recognized and addressed. There are many activities available for the residents to remain busy and cultivate relationships with other residents. While the facility is costly, you "get what you pay for". I am very happy we chose this facility for our relative as I feel they treat her as they should. I would recommend this facility to anyone if they hope to have their elderly family members under the best care available. Particularly if the individual suffers from Alzheimer's, the facility is very knowledgable.
