I am a friend or relative of a resident
My father stayed here for roughly six months before being switched to hospice in the same facility. He was on a ventilator and not able to speak or walk. The staff eventually was able to help him into a special chair at times, and being able to see him in an upright position meant the world to my family. I also appreciated that he was in a private room for the majority of his time there. Another plus was that we were able to decorate and personalize his living space, despite his only being there a short time. Visiting hours were good, and staff there allowed my mother to stay overnight with my dad. When my dad died, the staff was also very accommodating with giving us time to say goodbye. Now for the negative: Most of the aides were great, but at times I felt as though they were more interested in chatting with each other/other staff than helping residents. I know it must be difficult to work at a nursing home, but it was disheartening to see some residents roaming the halls -- sometimes screaming -- and staff not looking up whatsoever.
