I visited this facility

We toured The Bristal at Armonk, and it was lovely. The people were very friendly. They went above and beyond to make my father feel comfortable, in terms of showing him the entire facility. When we walked in the door, we could smell very delicious food cooking. The apartments were very spacious. As an assisted living facility, it was very nice. They had a physical therapy gym, but they also had physical therapy that could go to the room. They had billiards, an arts room, several different comfortable living rooms with TVs, and a movie theater. The dining room was gorgeous. It looked like a country club dining room. It was very quiet and very clean. The building itself was absolutely spotless, impeccable, and very nicely decorated. Everything was great. I did not see as much outdoor space as I thought should be there.

I visited this facility

I went to the memory care unit of The Bristal Assisted Living at Armonk and it was nice, in terms of the building itself. The staff was just as good as the other place too. There were lots of activities and the food seemed good.

My Mother enjoyed living in the Bristal for over 2 years. The staff worked very hard to make her comfortable and have her feel as if she was at home. She enjoyed the activities very much. The food for the most part is done very well. The place is nicely decroated, the dining room is very nice and the private dinign room for family visits is an excellent way to make the resident feel as if they are living at home and can entertian guests. She was well cared for and despite for being understaffed at times, the team went an extra step to help. Thank you for making my Mother comfortable and appreciated during her last years.

My mom has been at the Bristol in Armonk, Ny shortly after they opened. The current Wellness nursing starting with the head nurse Jody Bellantoni and then including Carol and Anthea are loving caring people who's prime interest is in the care and comfort of the residence

My father-in-law is living in The Bristal at Armonk, and so far, so good. They are short-staffed, but we knew that when we went in. They're in the process of hiring more people. The place is very nice. Their meals are very nice and well-prepared. The staff that was there was very nice and engaging. They have quite a few activities. It's very expensive.

My family and I have only great things to say about The Bristal in Armonk. My elderly mom was a resident there until her recent peaceful passing. The staff are wonderful throughout... concierge, housekeeping, restaurant staff, activities, etc. A special commendation to the staff in Wellness... who professionally handled my mom's medical needs, from the mundane to the extremely complex once she was ill. The place is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and modern and kept very clean. The multi-use shared facilities are all clean and well kept and often busy with residents. The senior administration leaders and executive director are top-notch... hands on and always seeming to be filled in about the residents, and always immediately and appropriately responsive. We have had other elderly parents residing at other facilities.... and I feel confident in stating that The Bristal Armonk is far superior in all aspects.

The Bristol in Armonk was a great experience for my family personally. My mom spent her final years there and treated so kindly. Her health was monitored daily and she loved the outing to the local stores. The staff there is so qualified as they were kind. My mom laughed every day, which made me so happy she was there. Her room was kep clean add we enjoyed decorating it for the holidays. She loved when music entertainment came in to sing. I also loved taking her to lunch in Armonk, the town is beautiful.

My parents were residents of this community. The wellness staff, kitchen staff, and all members of the cleaning and activities staff were 100% committed to making this experience a joyful and comfortable one for my parents. The room was spacious and,due to the high ceilings, felt more like a hotel than a health care facility. My parents enjoyed the exercise classes, the movies, and the meals. They felt they could be active both in the residence and outside of it as well. The ability to use the different amenities- exercise room, movie theater, beauty salon, and private dining room were a blessing. Most importantly, the dedication of the administration to working hard to ensure each resident was happy was noticeable. The resident population is demanding, but everyone at the Facility seemed committed and determined to find ways to ensure each resident was heard and treated with respect and dignity. We are thankful for the commitment and and dedication of the people at the Bristal and would recommend the facility anyone looking for assisted-living.

The Bristal at Armonk is an exceptional facility. My mother Marian has been a resident for two years. Marian just celebrated her 108th birthday! Marian has been extremely blessed with good health and was able to live independently for 106 years. But two years ago the family recognized that a change was needed. We researched a number of assisted living facilities and brought Marian along. We needed to find a place where Marian would be assessed as the unique individual she is; not based solely on her age. We found this at the Bristal. For Marian, the transition was perfect. Marian found new friends, new interests, and was really rejuvenated in many aspects. Marian continues to thrive with the care and compassion the staff provides, the ever changing activities, all in the beautiful and immaculate setting. As a family we have had the time to enjoy this setting and be with Marian in this environment and I would highly recommend you visit the Bristal if you or your loved one has this need.

My dad recently passed away but was one of the first residents at the Bristal at Armonk. They have done a beautiful job with the design and the physical space, but what truly makes it amazing are the people. I have never, ever happened upon someone who is not kind, empathetic and truly wonderful. All of the women in Wellness were so loving and huge of heart. They always treated him with the utmost respect and kindness and patience. Housekeeping and maintenance were dedicated and always did the right thing. The place is immaculate and impeccable. Every person at the front desk was unbelievably polite and helpful, and would race around trying to find my dad, when he would forget to pick up the phone or meet us. The Resident Relations Director and Executive Director drive the wonderful energy, positivity and life that is the Bristal. They are attentive, professional, upbeat, and were really great with all of my questions and concerns. They are problem solvers and pros at understanding what you as the caretaker are going through. From the minute my dad arrived, I could breathe a giant sigh of relief. Capable is an understatement of how you feel when you are in their hands. When my father arrived after my mom died, he kept saying what a shame it was, that my mother would have loved it there. He never for a single day saw it as a compromise from his old life. He felt lucky and simply saw it as the next place he was living. There is a very friendly, warm vibe to the place and everyone goes out of their way to make the residents feel happy and special. Though my father was a very shy person, there were all kinds of activities and wonderful ways to keep active and engaged. This is an amazing company and they provide an amazing service to the community. I feel very lucky that my dad spent his last years in such a lovely place.

HORRIBLE CARE!!! I am a resident family member, who sees my mother quite frequently and I've never been so turned off from staff especially in their line of work. Every single time I get in to see her, she isn't dressed, hair is unkempt and constantly wearing dirty clothes. After speaking with a different person every time, because they have too much turn over, nothing changes. I recommend going some place else if you're looking to move your loved one into an assisted living.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Beauty of a Building does not translate to a caring staff, very sad. There is constant turn over of staff. Executive Dir. very weak, they have been looking for a new director for over 5 months. Staff complains of poor leadership and miscommunication. Food is horrible. Bristal does not know how to treat residents and staff, they only care about getting a check each month.

Provider Response

The primary advantage that has always set The Bristal apart from other Assisted Living communities — and has for nearly 15 years — is not only the quality details we put into every service, experience and amenity, but more importantly, the care and attention with which we serve our residents and their families. The latter is our core mission, of course, and on the rare occasion that some area of our community not meet this demanding service standard, it is quickly and thoroughly corrected. Yes, we are in active search for a new director at The Bristal at Armonk, and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. But we recognized the need and have taken swift action. Our vetting process is a rigorous one, to ensure the excellence we insist upon at The Bristal, and so we request and greatly appreciate your continued patience as we complete this essential task. In the interim, we do have a regional administrator overseeing the day to day operations.

In addition, please consider this: When it comes to making a choice about an Assisted Living community, we have found, over our more than a decade operating, that every resident and family has unique and diverse needs — distinct expectations, priorities, perspectives and experiences — and that some aspects which prove essential for some families are less important to others. This is why we encourage all families who are considering The Bristal to visit us in person, take a tour, ask their own questions, and see for themselves what makes us such a successful and sought after senior care solution in the communities we are privileged to serve.

The Bristal provides the utmost in professional, individualized care to its residents and their families. I have had the pleasure of interacting closely with The Bristal team, and they team go to extraordinary means to provide attentive care to each of the residents. With a professional and customer focused Executive Director at the helm, they are able to accomplish this though exceptional communication with each resident and their family members and caregivers, working as a team to create the best care and services possible. The Housekeeping, Wellness Dept. along with their support team, understands the "yes" concept, and how they can serve you. Great building, great team, great atmosphere.

The Bristal at Armonk was very beautiful. The staff was accommodating, lovely, and friendly. They were great. I'm saving my money to go live there. The apartments were beautiful. They're like luxury apartments -- gorgeous. They have bistros, movies, language courses, computer courses -- they've got everything. I wouldn't change anything; they're like the best.

I visited The Bristal for my father. The rooms/apartments were very nice. The whole facility was nice. The dining facility was nice. It looked like a fancy restaurant. Food was good. Everything was great, except it was too expensive. As for their staff, I only met one person, and she was very nice. They have activities everyday. Regarding security and safety, it looked like it was good.

My mother is a resident at The Bristal. We chose it because it was located in Armonk. I think their day time activities are excellent, but I think that the evening room care needs improvement. I wouldn't recommend it.

Provider Response

As in all Assisted Living environments, residents of The Bristal each come with varying levels of strengths and abilities for managing what are called ADLs — Activities of Daily Living. We make a complete assessment of these abilities for every resident to determine who may need more help or less help in these areas. We develop a highly personalized care and assistance plan for each resident that balances the privacy and independence they value, while ensuring they receive the appropriate care, safety and attention they need. We never employ a one-size-fits-all approach, which is an aspect, in fact, that our families value most about The Bristal. Should a resident require, for example, help with showering and turning in for bed, or should the family wish the resident be checked on throughout the evening, we can absolutely arrange for that extra level of care to be delivered. Otherwise, there is always a concierge at the front desk that can be called 24/7, and residents can also use their pendent alert to contact our Wellness Department. In addition, please consider this: When it comes to making a choice about an Assisted Living community, we have found, over our more than a decade operating, that every resident and family has unique and diverse needs — distinct expectations, priorities, perspectives and experiences — and that some aspects which prove essential for some families are less important to others. The Bristal was very lovely, but I think my mom felt like the other facility we visited had a little more to offer. It was very nice. The woman who showed us around was lovely. It was a newer facility, so it was a little bit hard to judge and get a sense of what is going on, but she liked it, and we were pleasantly surprised by it. Armonk is a great town.

The Bristal is beautiful and the activities and that staff are excellent. The location is quite convenient The residents call it The Prison and the Director is called The Warden. The residents (not my family members) tell me the food is awful but I cannot comment from my own experience eating there as family is not welcome in the dining room. The staff is well credentialed and appear overwhelmed with work. It is possible the management in Long Island cares even less about staff welfare than patient welfare. My wish is that they will give up and sell to a more caring management team.

Provider Response

The Bristal at Armonk operates under the same high standards of excellence that have distinguished The Bristal as an award-winning Assisted Living organization since our founding in 2001. Skillful operations across all of our currently open communities, in fact, exceed those demanded of the New York State Department of Health — of which, of course, we are fully licensed. We have created an environment that balances both structure and freedom at The Bristal, to champion our residents’ desire for independence while ensuring the care, safety and attention they need. Our executive chefs are award-winning, and our cuisine, as well, has been recognized for its culinary and nutritional value. Moreover, we regularly diversify our menu to keep choices fresh, healthy and appealing. We encourage and value all constructive suggestions to ensure our residents’ living experiences are the finest they can be. In addition, please consider this: When it comes to making a choice about an Assisted Living community, we have found, over our more than a decade operating, that every resident and family has unique and diverse needs — distinct expectations, priorities, perspectives and experiences — and that some aspects which prove essential for some families are less important to others. the Bristol in Armonk is run like a business. If your looking for a place to call home this is not the place. At 7 thousand a month you must eat when told and only in you room when your sick. The food is and has been poor. Any complaints fall on deaf ears. inteligent vibrant adults are treated as children in a prison.

Provider Response

Since The Bristal first opened its doors in 2000, as an organization, we remain genuinely and consistently committed to providing a premier assisted living experience that is safe, transparent, enriching, and rewarding for both our residents and their families. If you or your family member has had some experience, encounter, or incident that is, in any way, inconsistent with The Bristal’s demanding standard of excellence, we will address your concern or explain why certain procedures are in place. We understand that some residents may be accustomed to eating their meals at varying times of the day. As per New York State regulations we must provide three regularly scheduled meals for our residents. The reason for this is to encourage socialization and exercise. For an orderly operation of the kitchen and dining room we have provided times for both a first and second seating. We urge you to make an appointment to meet with your community’s Executive Director to discuss the matter in detail, so that we can be empowered with specific information for responding immediately and accordingly. If you feel your concerns have not been addressed, please call the offices of the Ultimate Care Management team. You’ll find the contact information on our website. Thank you.
