I visited this facility

We are leaning towards Ecumen Centennial House. We liked that it was a small community, so you never had to move from one place to the next. The people were just really nice. We saw their activities, exercises, a nice porch, a patio, and a walking path.

My dad moved in at Ecumen Centennial House last January 17th. We chose it because of the location. When we first went for the tour, the facility was very clean and the people were dressed nicely. It was just a nice environment. His room is very nice. They have activities Monday through Saturday. They have crafts, exercises, and Bible studies. There's always something going on. I haven't tried the food, but I've been there for a couple of meals, and it looked really good. The staff there is nice.

We didn't like Ecumen Centennial House. I saw people who had super high needs. They have like a pod of four rooms. If my dad was sick, I think he would have been great there, but he didn't need that high of nursing care. The staff was good. They're all amazing. The room was just one room and you could only fit a bed in there and maybe a little couch. It was very small. It was not the kind of room that my dad would need. I went through that one fairly quickly and that's why I ended up in the other one. It was well maintained. The dining room was nice. For what it was, they were great.

Hi Kerrie. We would first like to thank you for taking the time to leave Ecumen Centennial House a Caring.com review. We would agree with you when you say our team members are amazing and we will be sharing your kind feedback with them. Here at Ecumen Centennial House, we have individuals with all different care levels, with some being more independent than others. The beauty of our community is that a resident will receive care when they need it, making sure we ask the questions of what they need and deliver on those answers. We are happy to see you did tour our other Ecumen location in Apple Valley, Seasons at Apple Valley and we continue to invite any questions you have so we can find the best first for your father, even if it isn't Ecumen. Best of luck on your community search for your father!

The people at Ecumen Centennial House's memory care are very caring and very knowledgeable about Alzheimer's and dementia. Their rooms are a nice size and very clean with nice large bathrooms. Their dining area is very nice, large, and very clean. It's also bright and sunny because it's got a lot of windows. The upkeep of the place is very good and it's very well-manicured. They've got a lounge area with a fireplace and big-screen TVs where everybody can gather if they want. They have activities of exercise groups, and people in other areas playing games of different sorts. They've asked my father-in-law what his interests are so they could specifically design things around what he likes. It's nice to have him in a place where they understand what problems he's facing so it's worth the money just for that.

Provider Response

Kevin, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Thank you for taking the time to come visit our wonderful community. We love when we are able to show the community everything Ecumen has to offer, including our amazing team members. We also want to thank you for trusting us with your father-in-law's care and allowing us to be part of his journey.

My mother has been in memory care facility since spring. Since then my mom has had clothing and personal items removed from her room. Every week i go in i have to go through her clothes and remove a basket full of items that are not hers. She is constantly missing clothing and pads. I have complained numerous times and was told they would get it worked out. Nothing gets worked out. Her dentures mysteriously broke into pieces. I am sure you are aware they do t just break..so who knows. She sits in a soiled diaper all day. I Dont think they read her haelth care plan at all. There is zero activities so do not buy into that. They have a puzzle and play music on a radio. Or they plop you in front of a TV. So very disappointed in how things are ran at this facility. I would remove her if we could afford it. Take my advice this is not a place for your loved one. I wish someone else had warned me so i am hoping to help another nightmare from happening. Food has some improvements needed. I know a few days ive been there for lunch its been a hotdog on a hard bun. Let me say this has been her lunch each time i have been there at lunch time.

I visited this facility

I went to the Ecumen Centennial House last Thursday. I saw their memory care and the tour was really good. It's a smaller facility and the people seemed nice. I think it'll be a good fit for my mom. It was really nice and seemed very comfortable. The people seemed very caring, I was given a lot of good information, and they were very helpful on the next steps I need to take. I need to apply for VA benefits and all that kind of stuff and the lady I spoke with was very nice. The location is very convenient too. It's only about 10 minutes away from my house.

I visited this facility

The staff at Ecumen was very gracious and welcoming. Everything about the building looked beautiful, but the room that they would have offered my mom was a studio and too small. The décor and the environment were friendly. They had a common dining room for everyone. The food was cooked by a chef and served to all the assisted living people. The marketing person who met with me was very well informed and concerned.
