I am/was a resident of this facility

Darn good facilities! I came in on a stretcher and walked out a few weeks later! Staff reminded me (in a good way) about my favorite teachers--very kind and helpful. Really--nothing to complain about!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband was at Heritage Care Center memory care area. I was not impressed. It had stark white walls and no decorations. One of the experiences we had while he was there was they took him into the dining room and put his food in front of him, then came back a little later, but he had left the table and gone back to his room. This is a man who doesn't remember, and he wouldn't even know the food was there. They took back his tray untouched, so he didn't get a meal that night. I went into his room at one point and he was sitting in a dirty diaper that hadn't been changed for a long time, so much so that he had developed a rash. I brought him some coloring books, and they sat down and got him started coloring. One time, they put him in isolation and had him stay in his room for something you don't need to be isolated for, which was a Staph infection. After the third Staph infection while he was there, they decided they wouldn't isolate him. I would go in there and he would have the same bedding on his bed from two or three days before. He would play with his catheter bag and empty it on the floor. I went in there more than once while urine was sitting on the floor that had been there for a while. I can't say anything good about the place. The staff was very friendly if you could find them. They're terribly understaffed. I didn't even see a person while I was there many times. The food was OK. I didn't really see them doing any activities. They had a library out in the assisted living area.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We chose Heritage Care for its availability. We had to have a place that he could move in quickly as he was then suffering from dementia. As far as the care, I would say it was good. There was staff watching him around the clock. They eat in a common area rather than in his bed, and when he went there, he was with different groups of people. As far as keeping him clean and keeping the bed, it was good. They would take him down to the community rooms where he would sit with a caregiver.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Heritage Care Center is located in what was once the old American Fork Hospital. Because of this the place naturally looks old and like a hospital, which gives it a certain character. However, in terms of care for the residents, the place is very modern and the building is well maintained. The staff themselves are very friendly and professional. They make sure the residents are well and taken care of. The staff are very patient with the residents and listen to their concerns. The staff also keeps the relatives of the residents very up to date. The administrators, attendants and nurses are all easy and pleasant to talk to and readily available. While there are numerous activities for the residents, one wishes there could be more and more varied, but this is really a minor complaint. All in all Heritage Care Center is a very good place. I know my mother is in very good hands there.

I visited this facility

This is a small facility, with full occupation at 15 residents. Still, it has a certain zest to it. The facility isn't much to look at on the outside, but the inside is done up very nicely. That zest includes the residents as well, they seem very spry and active. I once witnessed a game they played with a staff member. It's that one where you try to keep the balloon from touching the ground. Well, the residents had these little paddles to hit the balloon with, and man were they having a good time. I think one of the gentleman there would have dived for the balloon if he could have moved that quickly. It was absolutely fantastic. The staff member seemed to have a good time too, laughing with the residents and teasing them. There was a good rapport going on. It's obvious that the staff care about the happiness of the residents.
