I visited this facility

The Oaks at Alpharetta seemed sad. It smelled, and they were really kind of rude to me when I first walked in. They turned me off quickly. When I walked in for my appointment, the woman at the reception desk said, "Who you here to see?" That's not the way I would greet a potential client or for that matter, a potential family member to somebody staying there. That turned me off immediately. They did hook me up with Shelby, who I was supposed to meet with. In the other two places that I went to, the first thing they want to do is sit down and talk to me about my needs and what my family needs, and how it's going from there. At The Oaks, they just took me through and showed me all the rooms and we were in and out in 15 minutes. The menu seemed OK. I did not see any of the food. I saw a few people around, but mostly it was the staff having lunch in the lunchroom and that was it. Customer service needs to be improved.

I visited this facility

The Oaks at Alpharetta was nice. It's one level. The person who took me on the tour was real nice. It was clean. I didn't smell any odors or anything like that. Even though it's not a newer facility, it's still clean and very inviting. The rooms were nice and decent-sized. I can't say anything bad about it. The location is nice. They have a physical therapy room. I visited both assisted living and memory care.

I visited this facility

We went to visit The Oaks at Alpharetta but they didn't have space available. They were at the top of our list. I liked the accommodations, I liked the cleanliness, and I like how welcoming the staff was. It's a huge facility, it's well-kept and it's secure. The staff who gave the tour was very pleasant and very understanding. The overall facility was excellent. For those who could go out, they would take them out on outings. The rooms that I saw there were excellent.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is at The Oaks at Alpharetta, and we're very content and happy with that place. They have a staff and a management team that works really well together. It shows in the care that they provide to the residents there. They work really hard to create a sense of community for the residents. They encourage them to participate in activities and just be a part of the things that are going on there. There's a special event each month, and they always do a beautiful job with them. It's not too small, but it's not too large either. It's just a nice-sized community. We are very pleased with the staff-to-resident ratio. The staff there have just been very engaging, and they treat my mother like family. We've been really, really happy all the way around. I feel like we really found the right spot for my mom. Their activities I feel is one area that they're kinda lacking a little bit.

The Oaks at Alpharetta is a very nice community. I like it. Everybody was nice. The apartments are nice. They have a one-bedroom, which is what I was looking for. There are all kinds of things to be done there. It is a very nice place. Everything was very clean. The staff was very helpful and answered all questions. The facility was very well kept. They didn't have a pool. They have gardening and trips if you need to go to the store. From what I could see, they serve really good food.

I visited this facility

I visited The Oaks at Alpharetta, it was very friendly and inviting. It seemed like they had a family atmosphere. The rooms were very nice and clean. They had a lot of different activities for the residents in the memory care section. The activities director was very welcoming as well. I did not have the time to try a meal, but they offered. They had a garden area for memory care patients. They have different stations for them to work in during the day. They had amenities that they could use. Their dining room area was separated from their activities area. They had a different set of objects that the residents could hold if they felt anxious.

We went to The Oaks at Alpharetta yesterday. The young lady helped us very well. Kelly I think was her name. She explained everything and gave us a brochure. I like the way it was leveled out to different caring levels like assisted, to memory, it had three. It's a nice place. I liked it. We walked through it and saw the movie room, and they had a laundry facility, a dining area, and they had kitchens they could use. The rooms were pretty nice, they're spacious and the living quarters look right. We didn't see anything that we didn't like. The staff was very pleasant to talk to and she explained things very well.

I liked it a lot. I had a nice tour, and it was a very comfortable feeling. They take a lot of people and if someone’s already there and their condition changes or if they get worse with many brain difficulties and become harder to handle, they will apply for a waiver from the state to take people they’re not necessarily qualified to handle because they can take a certain number of those people. She told me some facilities are not willing to apply for a waiver but they are, and so if they had someone for quite a long time and the person is comfortable there, they like the family and everybody’s happy, they will apply for a waiver. But they’re in the process of changing their status, so that they won’t even have to apply for a waiver and they will have all the necessary things that the state requires. So I was very impressed with that place.

I liked it very much. There were a lot of residents that were out listening to a lecturer or playing a game. The rooms were nice, and it was in a convenient location, but they didn?t have any space open.
