I am/was a resident of this facility

I am currently at Paul Spring Retirement Community. I don't require any assistance, but they will still come around once a day checking on me. The staff doesn't respect privacy and the reason for that is the people on the first and second floor have more of what you would call an open door policy because they had to be taken care of. I don?t require being taken care of. They will knock and then walk right in on me and that really irritates me. If I had to go into the hospital, I had to get re-certified. I did not realize I have given up so many rights. I have an efficiency apartment and it has a shower and own kitchen. I cook my own food, but they do have a restaurant. They have a bus that would take the residents shopping a couple of times a week. They have scheduled trips several times a month, but I don't partake on it because I feel out of place.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We have chosen Paul Spring for my mom to move in next week. This facility was recommended to us by the rehab facility and I just felt like it was a better fit for my mother. It's close to me and to my son. The staff are very helpful and they have been totally wonderful people. We are very pleased and we are hoping that it will be what we hope it will be. We really felt like it would be a very good place for her. Mom has a small dog and they allow that in the facility.

I visited this facility

Paul Spring Retirement Community was a little older facility, but it was efficiently laid out. It had a small kitchen and bathroom. The rooms were very sunny and bright and very nicely decorated. The residents I met during the tour seem to be very happy there. They have a lot of activities that would involve the family. They were talking about a "fall festival" thing that they were going to have that was for the residents and their families. However, the only thing I did not like was some of the rooms were quite a walk for elderly people to get to the dining room. It's an elementary school that was converted into an assisted living facility. But they do have people that would assist folks getting to and from the dining room. The dining area seems nice and the staff would also eat there with the residents.

I visited this facility

While visiting a loved one in an assisted living community is never easy, during my visit to Paul Spring assisted living facility. I was pleased by the level of care and attention that was being received by my grandmother's friend. Although at first I had my doubts about the idea of leaving her to live there with other people who she wasn't familiar with, the friendliness and atmosphere changed my mind. The living areas look gorgeous and I myself would love to live there! During my visit I heard about all the wonderful amenities including a beauty and barber shop, fitness room and gym, and the chapel which I know made a difference in my friend's stay. Another plus is that pets are allowed. This greatly improved the experience for my friend as I know she would have been devastated if she had had to leave her cat behind when she moved from her home to the facility.
