You can't smoke at Village at Cook Springs, and I didn't like that, but I liked that I can have my pet there, and it's all inclusive. I liked that the meals are included, and the fact that one of the administrators gave me her cell phone number so that I can call if I have any problems. The facility was beautiful. There's a little pond out there and it's got a fountain in it. It's gorgeous. WiFi, cable, and landline are provided, but I use my cell phone. There's routine little tours out. Like they were headed to Walmart for an outing when we left there. They had nice people and a nice administration. The meals looked really good, too. The staff was wonderful. The staff actually eats in their cafeteria, which tells you the food is a really good thing. I didn't have a taste of it or anything, but I have had somebody there before, and the food was excellent. They had excellent personnel.

My father was in the "rehab" part of this place. We were told it was rehab, but found out it is nursing home. Rooms are very small, there is not enough staff to residents. The nurses "forget" to give them their medicine unless it is "night time" medicine. They leave them in urine diapers till they develop infections. The residents sit in the hall with bruises from falls and activity consists of laying in bed watching tv. The smell of urine will knock you out when you walk down the hall. Beware if you think your family member is short term for rehab. They will not get it!

My Mother loves the assisted living. She participates in chapel and games. Prior to moving here, she was very unsocial and a loner. This has been a godsend for her and us. The staff go above and beyond our expectations in making sure she is taken care of so that we do not worry when we are out of town. Mother was underweight. Since moving here, she has gained 12 pounds and is much healthier. She loves the meals and the fact that she can choose to order off the extra menu when she desires. The room is very spacious with a beautiful view of the courtyard. The courtyard provides a great place for Mother to walk and enjoy the outdoors. There is also a library fully stocked with all kinds of books. Every week Mother has her hair done by a sweet young woman who comes and does her hair. There are all kinds of excursions to various locations including restaurants, thrift stores, Walmart, banks, dollar trees, etc. People also come into the facility to entertain on a regular basis such as line dancers, Elvis impersonators, singers, etc. To her family, the Villages at Cook Springs has been a wonderful blessing! The cleanliness, the room, the staff, the activities, the food, all in all—-it is a great place for the money!

My family member is very happy at the Village. He started out in another facility, and is much happier at the Village that previous facility. They have excellent staff, many opportunities to mix and mingle with others as well as outings away from the building. The care has been excellent , he and our family are very pleased.

I visited this facility

My mom came to Bham from Huntsville in early 2017 after a stroke. She went straight to rehab for 6 weeks. She then moved over to assisted living where she’s been since. She loves her apartment there, she loves the nurses and the staff. They take them to Walmart, out to eat, to the movies, to get ice cream, and other small trips that are fun for them. They have an activity room where they frequently play cards, bingo, work puzzles, craft and have cooking classes. Mom has made many friends there and when asked if she would like to go back to Huntsville, will tell you no immediately. I love that the staff keeps an eye on her and lets me know immediately if they think something is off with her. I highly recommend the Village.

This facility was very nice! There’s pond with a fountain, a barn with livestock who wander around the grounds, and a very nice staff who you can tell really care about what they’re doing. The Residents really seem to like it there. 5/5 would recommend!

I had the pleasure of visiting The Village at Cook Springs recently, and I was so impressed. First of all the staff was so warm, and welcoming. The residents seemed so happy smiling greeting me as I walked down the halls. The rooms are very nice . The apartment I was shown had an awesome view. The out door setting is so beautiful with a pond and also even some farm animals to pet and feed. I was touring for my mom, but unfortunately I waited to long. My mom started declining and Assisted Living is no longer and option.

My mother moved into The Village at Cook Springs nursing home last November. She's been well taken care of. There are doctors and nurses on staff. They do lab work there, and they do X-rays there. The food has been wonderful. She loves the food. I go everyday or every other day, just to make sure her laundry's done. They do the laundry there, but I like to bring it home because she's particular about her laundry. We've been pleased with the care so far. They're very nice and attentive. The food is very good. There's a good quantity of what they serve. It's seasoned well, and it's enriched with extra nutrients for the patients. Maintenance is pretty good. I wouldn't say it's excellent. It's clean enough, but not spotless.

My mother transferred to memory care from the assisted living department in the Village at Cook Springs. So far, she's doing very well, and she seems to like it a lot. They're keeping her busy, she's doing things, and seems to be happier. They do exercise classes, they have outings to places, last week to get her nails done, they play games with them, and they keep them busy all day long. The staff is great, they all know her name. Her room is pretty spacious, she's got plenty of room for her things, she has her own private bathroom, she has a little cabinet to keep her snacks and stuff. It's a pretty nice room. It's a beautiful place, the grounds are kept really nice, they have lots of flowers, a pond, and a walking place.

My grandmother was sent home by this place dehydrated, shaking, and unresponsive. This has happened on multiple occasions. I do not recommend this place.

At The Village at Cook Springs everybody was pretty friendly, but I don't like the way they pushed dad out. They just called us and told us that because he has fallen a couple of times, they don't think they could take care of him anymore. They just pushed him out; we had to frantically look out for another place. The room was nice, and it was a larger size room than what he's got now. The food was bland and unaccommodating. He did not do it too much, but I know they did a lot of nice things there. There's a small exercise area and there's a walking track around a small pond. They have staff that comes up with fun things to do. They'll take the residents out for shopping and things like that every now and then. It was the location mostly for me, and my family lives in that area.

I took my mother to The Village at Cook Springs. She's in memory care. I am pleased with it, the accommodations are very nice, and the people are very nice to me as well. I think the facility is in a very good physical condition, seemed to be updated, clean, and the staff is very nice and accommodating. They have a community room where the residents can participate in activities. They have a list of activities. I don't remember the whole lot of them. My mother is going to be on quarantine because they have a mandatory quarantine for COVID for a little while, so I didn't get too far into any activities yesterday because she is not going to be doing any of them for a while. They have a rehabilitation center for folks who have physical disabilities and needs. They have a really nice barn on the premises, and that's kind of outdoors, and it's the place where, if they wanted to go out and have some outdoor recreation, the grounds are very nice for that. My mother's room is nice. I've seen a couple of places and I don't know that it is any better or any worse than what I've seen. I would say it is a standard room, it is in good shape, and it is clean, and it is updated as much as it can be. I know that there are better nursing homes out there, but she's a Medicaid patient, so I understand that that kind of limits what she can afford. I would say based on the little experience I have that it's a very good value, particularly for a memory care unit.

The residents at The Village at Cook Springs seemed happy. They have a lot of activities for the residents, and everyone was very friendly. It looks beautiful and very clean. They have Bingo, shopping, parties, fishing, and so on. The food smelled delicious and the people lined up early to eat, so that's a good indicator.

The Village at Cook Springs is closer to my sister’s home and the family. There are three meals a day, and they provide snacks. The staff is very professional and very helpful. The community is clean, well kept, and very well run. My mother says that the place is very good.

My mom is at The Village at Cooks Springs. It's an older place, but very nice. It is utilized very well. The setting is beautiful with mountains, trees, and a lake. The air is nice and fresh. Most of the staff I have met are very friendly and caring. Their director is a nice guy and speaks to you. The meals are fair and nutritious. The residents are extremely friendly.

My mother is now at The Village at Cook Springs. She has been there since August. They have very caring staff that go above and beyond. She is fully paralyzed and needs a lot of attention even for the basic things. She is by herself in her room, which is of nice quality for the price. However, the weekend staff is not as wonderful as they are during the whole week. We have brought this up, and they are trying to rectify that situation.

We had a family member at Village East in Pell City which is associated with Village at Cook Springs. Rooms are nice. Overall, staff was friendly; some more than others. Food was inedible at times. Activities were almost nonexistent (even if it's on the calendar). Our family member was losing weight and becoming dehydrated within 2 months.

Village at Cook Springs is OK. They have skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care. It is a pretty big facility. I only went in the memory care, and the sanitation was OK. As for the staff, I really only was able to talk to one or two, but they were nice. The appearance of the rooms was OK.

I visited this facility

Mom is in the long term-care part of the Village. She was in assisted living, and then she fell. It's a very nice facility. We had a very nice room. It was very clean, and she had a large picture window. It overlooked a small lake with a sprawling fountain with lights around it at night and a little bridge. It's an older facility, and the rooms are smaller. We had to get her a private room, but they treat her so well. That makes up for everything, even if there was some deficit. The nursing care is good, but unfortunately, she wasn’t able to perform independently enough so she could stay there, and they moved over to the long-term care side at the Village. I like the assisted living very much, and the people are very happy. The long-term care side, less so. I asked the people walking around, and they all like it. They have independent living dormitories also. Then they have the orthopedic section that they do orthopedics in. The food was good; I ate there a couple of times. The staff seemed to take care of the people very well and was very attentive. They go to Wal-Mart and to Dollar Tree. They go to the casino about twice a year, and they play bingo, and they had movie night. It's not the most modern, but it had a lot going for it.

Mom is at Village at Cook Springs for about a week now. It's a farm setting. They have a huge red barn and they have donkeys and goats that just wander the property. They have a lake and a huge water fountain. The food is excellent. I've eaten there with my mom several times and the staff are great. They are very nice. Activity wise, they have so much activities – it's unbelievable. They have a chapel there. They have bingo and exercise class. They have a van that will take the residents to several stores and to the casinos if they want to go. They also go to movies. I would highly recommend the place.

My mom stayed at The Village a long time ago. The place did not smell foul or odorous. It was clean. Her room was pretty spacious. She had her own furniture and there was a small kitchen also. We had a good experience with them.

I visited this facility

I recently visited the Village while my grandmother was staying there. My overall impression was positive. The majority of the staff appeared to be very friendly, helpful and welcoming. I noticed a few stray staff members that seemed to be standoffish, but overall the impression was positive. At times, some of the staff chatter could get a bit loud for the environment for my taste. However, the majority of the staff seemed to generally care about the clients. The facilities were pretty good and appeared clean. Nothing to write home about, but I have seen much worse. Most importantly, my Grandmother was smiling and the majority of the other clients appeared to be content as well. She had made some friends and met other clients through a few of the activities the Village offered. Her room has touches that made it feel a bit more like home. Overall, my impression was positive.

I am very satisfied with the care that my grandmother receives at The Village. The staff is very loving and kind and treat the residents just like they were family. The place is very beautiful they have a small farm out front with goats and donkeys that the residents are able to go to and feed and interact with the animals. They play a bingo game where the residents can receive bingo bucks to trade in for gifts and such. They also recognize all holidays and make the residents feel at home, such as serving turkey on Thanksgiving, ham on Christmas to make sure they are not feeling left out. I personally like that best about it. Overall this a great place and I don't feel so bad after I leave my grandmother everyday because I know she is in great hands and is being taken care of.
