I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

They are charging, suddenly and without prior discussion, almost $1,000/month for "medication management" - to people, including my auntie, who manage their own meds! THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!!! GOUGING residents for services both (1) unprovided and (2) un-needed. There was at least one protest on the streets by local Homer residents. My Auntie says she isn't aware of any changes - and she continues to be gouged financially. They are wearing her down psychologically and depleting her long worked for savings. A SICKENING, SHAMEFUL, NIGHTMARE of a place. The facility is like a prison - my auntie sent me pictures and videos. The ghastly food, the walls & corridors. The constant blaring of alarms when advanced dementia residents try to leave. There IS a way to safely manage wandering dementia residents. I know there are facilities using this peaceful and effective method downstates. The facility does not care about the dementia patients, or any others who are subjected to the alarms - every single day. If they were trained and educated professionals they would be aware of the psychological trauma this causes and do something about it. She has expressed the discomfort of the constant alarms blaring. No change. I called and spoke to the then facility administrator. She said the alarms were from a fire alarm issue that was being repaired. A lie. Auntie sent me videos. It continues. If I could I would move auntie elsewhere immediately. I am trying to arrange family in Anchorage to get her out of this nightmare of a facility.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This business NEVER answers their phones. No matter which phone numbers or phone menu options I try, never answered by a person. I'm never able to speak to someone. My calls are sent to voicemail - but messages are not returned. There is no assistance from this assisted care facility. Thousands of dollars being paid to a facility who won't even answer their phone. I am stunned & deeply disappointed.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My paternal grandmother moved into this facility when she could no longer care for herself. I didn't get the opportunity to visit her as often as I would have liked before she passed away, but the facility did a tremendous job helping her live life to its fullest. She was always happy, and every time we spoke she would tell me about her 'friends' (the employees), who absolutely loved her. She was happy and as healthy as could be expected with her various ailments til the day she died. I would definitely tell someone in the Homer Alaska area to consider Friendship Terrace for their loved ones.
