My problem right now is my grandmother has alzeimer's but refuses to see a doctor to get diagnosed. What should we do? If we try to push her to go, she gets angry and even more stubborn.. any advice?

Was hoping it would say exactly what kind of Doctor to consult. My FIL is a veteran and sees a Dr. at the VA as a primary care physician. All she wants to do is put him on anti-psychotic meds for PTSD. We live 2 hours away and Dad lives alone. I'm trying to get him to add our names as med contacts due to HIPAA regs, but either he's in denial, forgets or is procrastinating. I've even left him a written list of things to get done between our visits. I can't force him! I can't do this for him and if our names aren't in his records, the law won't be on our side to help him. It's sooooo frustrating!

Buy long term care insurance or life insurance BEFORE you get a diagnosis!

1) The wording for explaining why you want the person to be evaluated by a physician, and 2) The reasoning why you are accompanying the person.
Good advice.

Very interesting and helpful. Had not even considered falls and incontinence, may be a symptom

We are just starting to see some changes and this is a very educational site I happened into by accident.
