Top 10 Priorities in Fight Against Alzheimer's Disease
Last updated:November 10, 2011
What are the top impediments in the fight against Alzheimer's disease? Ten items have been identified in a new report called "Alzheimer's From the Frontlines: Challenges a National Alzheimer's Plan Must Address." The insights were solicited from the public by the Alzheimer's Association, which issued the report.
Though the list apparently isn't ordered by priority, "lack of public awareness" (#1) hardly seems on par with "unprepared caregivers" (#8), "insufficient research funding" (#2), and "ill-equipped communities" (#10). Other items include "difficulties with diagnosis" (#3), inadequate treatments (#5), and specific challenges facing "diverse communities" (#6) and "those with younger-onset Alzheimer's" (#7).
