Caring for my wife Member since June 24, 2010The doctor tells me my wife is about to enter the final stage of Alzheimer's. She is 62 years old and is about like a two year old cognitively speaking. She does not wander, or become violent and actually hasn't shown signs of changing personality. Her latest change has been in toiletry....though she is not incontinent. I work full time as the Postmaster of our local State University. She sits in her easy chair until I come for lunch.....I must fix her a sandwich then return to work. I come home at 5pm and then my evening chores begin. When I finish about 8:30pm I will shower and am ready for bed at 9pm. We keep a strict routine and it seems to work best for us. Her Mother, her Grandmother, and two Uncles all sucummed to the disease.
I am concerned about the time I will awake in the morning and she won't know who I am. I am 78 years old........surprised?
