Caring for me Member since July 02, 2009I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon cancer in August of '08. I did chemo first to shrink the tumor in my colon before trying to remove it. My first surgery was for a temporary colostomy. I then began my chemo treatments till January for my second surgery. This second surgery was to remove the tumor, reverse the colostomy and do a liver ablation for the tumor that was in my liver.
My husband just had a hip replacement on June 11th and should be back home Wednesday, July 8, after being in the hospital for nine days and two and a half weeks at a convalescent home for his physical therapy rehab. I have a PICC line for my chemo and can and will only be able to do so much for him and me.
My husband was diagosed with CHF in 2004 at the age of 46. My family and I have been through so much, not just the past four years with his diagnosis, but all that has transpired since this past August. The good thing is that my husband's and my relationship with each other has only made us closer together in such a small amount of time. We've known each other for 13 years and have been married for ten of those years. This seems like stuff that would happen during the course of a fifty year marriage and not a six year marriage when we were given the news of my husband's CHF.
I am currently trying to take steps to seek counseling.
