Member since September 10, 2009My parents were in assisted living for 9 years. At the passing of my dad, we had to move my mom to another facility. In that process, I discovered a VA Pension Beneift that my dad as a WWII veteran would have been entitled to during the 9 years he required the care of others.
The pension is also available to the widow of a veteran, so I filed on behalf of my mom and got the pension awarded to her.
This "little known" pension would have represented over $160,000 my parents would have had to help pay for their care while our family imploded on one another to offset the costs of their care each month.
My mom passed away before the VA released her funds, and it was at that point that I felt compelled to make a difference for those who now walk in my shoes. I have been the daughter out of hope, options, resources and money to pay for their care. I launched www.veteranaid.org 4 years ago in memory of my parents and by sharing my experience and information on the Improved Pension, I have had the honor of making a difference for thousands of others who had better choices and additional money to help provide for their loved one.
