Caring for my wife Member since March 22, 2013Bio
John Irvine was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand in 1940. He travelled widely in Australia for 28 years, and after a stint in the Papua New Guinean jungle returned to New Zealand in 1996. John and his writer/poet wife live in Colville on New Zealand's picturesque Coromandel Peninsula, surrounded by hills and ocean. There he occasionally lets his dark side out to play. He was the online administrator for a Canadian-based international teen writer's forum until its demise in 2011, and has his own web site:

John's first collection of poetry, Man of Stone, was released in 2005 by Zenith Publishing Group to enthusiastic reviews in New Zealand, and is available internationally from the publisher's website

He had a second volume of illustrated poetry, Rat atouille for the rindless (illustrated by Dave Freeman) published in 2007 by Preshrunk Press. He has edited a number of anthologies, notably Anomalous Appetites, an illustrated collection of speculative/horror poetry from around the world. A new illustrated personal collection of similar work, Blood Curry, was launched at the World Horror Convention in April 2011 in the USA.
He has had poetry published in many international magazines and anthologies, including Magazine and Valley Micropress in NZ. He has had horror stories and poems published in Wicked Karnival, Black Ink Horror and the Horror Library. Also, he has had haiku published in Stylus magazine, Kokako, NZ Poetry Society and Scifaiku, and short stories and poems in Australian Reader magazine, Static Movement, Sam Smith's Select Six, Illuminations, Non-euclidean Café and Scifaiku amongst others.
He hopes to die peacefully one day without warning and minimal leakage.
