Caring for my mom Member since February 20, 2010Hi all. I work with people, such as your loved ones, suffering from this horrible illness, DEMENTIA. I understand the difficulty in coping at home with your loved one because obviously with this illness progressing, more and more of your loved one is disappearing from you and you do not know this person anymore, but do not k now what to do. You may begin to resent them, not like them but most of all not recognise who they are from when YOU where a child. Personality changes, mood changes, not recognising family members when they visit. All stressful and heartbreaking to the people left behind. That can be very hurtful and distressing to the family concerned. Anger can mount. Please remember this is not your dad, mom, daughter, son or any other family member, IT IS the ILLNESS and even THEY, the sufferer, would be horrified, if they realised what they were doing to themselves and their families. It is so sad for all concerned.
