Sample Sympathy Note: When You Didn't Know the Deceased

This sample note is based on the Template for a Sympathy Note: When You Didn't Know the Deceased. If you were acquainted with the person who died, see the template and sample for that situation. For more general information on this topic, see What to Write in a Sympathy Note.

Dear Annick:

I was sorry to hear about the loss of your father, Jacques. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

While I didn't have the pleasure of knowing him, I will always remember you speaking about how he encouraged you to pursue your dream of becoming a doctor from the time you were a very young girl -- and I know that encouragement meant a lot to you.

I hope the passage of time will help ease your sadness and leave you with happy memories. In the meantime, I'm sending healing thoughts and support your way.

Sincerely,

Franklin Walleski

Under "Helpful Resources" everything refers to facilities near Ardsley, New York. I am no where near Ardsley and wonder why that city is listed? I live in Laurel Hollow, NY which is on Long Island!
