Some types of chemotherapy cause a painful condition called hand-foot syndrome (also known as palmar-plantar erythema, or PPE), in which the palms, soles, and fingertips become red and inflamed. In more severe conditions, the skin may peel or sores may form. Studies show that taking between 50 and 150 mg of vitamin B6 can help prevent hand-foot syndrome from worsening. Since this dosage is much higher than the Recommended Daily Allowance, it's best to check with a doctor and take the supplement only for a few months while undergoing chemo.
