If you think your parent may have had a stroke, act F.A.S.T.:
Face: Ask your parent to smile. See if one side of his mouth droops.
Arms: Ask your parent to close his eyes and raise both arms. See if one of his arms drifts downward.
Speech: Ask your parent to repeat a simple sentence, such as "I went to the store today."
Test all three symptoms.
If your parent has difficulty with any of these, call 911 right away.

I read that a stroke victim is unable to laugh during a stroke.
Just what I wish I had known 2 years ago! Betterlate than never.I will be better prepared next time .Thank you.
What is the next step after you have established patient has had a stroke? As with heart attack you take two asprin and sit by the front door after calling 911. Do not lie down! THERE IS A NEW CRYSTAL MELT IN YOUR MOUTH ASPRIN BY BAYER - IT"S FAST ACTING! I know that time is important with heart attacks so I would imagine that applies to strokes as well.
