Communicating in a Group With Your Visually Impaired Parent

If your parent is visually impaired, he may find it hard to tell one person from another in a group setting. When you speak to him, say "Dad" first so he'll know you're addressing him. Also be sure to let him know when you enter the group -- "Hi Dad, It's Sarah" -- and when you're leaving: "I'll be right back, Dad, I'm going to see what Steven is up to."
