What To Do When You First Learn a Loved One Has Alzheimer's - Get the full To Do list

Remove or copy wallet contents: ID, credit cards, bank cards.

Why and how to safeguard the wallet of someone with dementia

People with dementia tend to misplace items. If taking away a wallet is distressing, try removing only credit cards, or make copies of the cards so they can be more easily replaced.

To avoid fraud, also remove from the wallet your loved one's Social Security card, passwords, and PINs. You'll need this information to manage finances and insurance, so if it's not in the wallet, ask for and write down access information while it's still remembered.
