Telltale Signs That Seniors May Not Be Able to Keep up Basic Home Maintenance
The next time you visit, pay close attention to whether things look clean and well cared for. Are basic home-maintenance tasks -- everything from lawn care to cleaning the fridge -- getting taken care of? Are the pets OK? Are houseplants getting watered regularly? The ability of seniors to take care of other living things offers important clues to their ability to manage their own care.
If they do seem to be letting things slide -- and they remain determined to stay put -- are they open to getting more in-home help, and are there resources available in their area?
