Mom is 84 with alz. recently it was decided I should stay home with her full time due to a couple of falls and forgetting or not wanting to eat. She still walked without aid of any kind and handled her own toilet needs and dressed herself (mostly). A week ago wednesday she fell out of bed and broke her hip. they attempted surgery Friday using a spinal but couldnt get the needle in due to arthritis so tried to put her under but had to stop due to heart in A fib and low blood pressure. what a nightmare! So she laid with a broken hip from Wed to Sunday (on morphine and with a catheter) when they finally did the surgery successfully. She was WAY LOOPY and had no clue what was going on. They got her out of bed once called it a sit and stand but was completely assisted and in terrible pain, still had catheter and Yesterday (Wednesday) they released her and sent her to a rehab facility! this is awful, we had to pick a facility basically blind, she can hardly communicate, they fed her in the hospital cause she cant feed herself at this facility they pushed the tray in front of her and left, no more catheter so shes soaking wet 5 hrs after being there i finally got someone to help me change her, it hurt her so bad just move her to do that. She just lays there completely out of it, if she needed help, a drink of water ANYTHING no one would know and they are gonna get her up and make her walk? Basically I need to be there all the time. I want to bring her home! She'll never get better there. She has medicare (scan) insurance. Where do i start how do I do it if I get her home? We didnt know about medi-cal so we are just applying for it now. What do I do?
