How much do you tip aging loved one's helpers for the holidays?
This is topic that can stump caregivers around the holidays. What to tip your loved one’s professional caregivers or other eldercare helpers?
While some people are better at talking about these things than others, and we have some expert advice to help guide you, we’re also curious to gather your thoughts and suggestions about what you would do (or have already done) for your helpers this holiday season. Your input can be very valuable to others in similar situations struggling with this decision. Thanks for sharing!
The caregiver that cares for my husband is exceptional so i gave her $50.00 in cash, a pair of movie tickets, a pedicure, a set of holiday towels, room spray, stress oil, and a platter of homemade goodies for her family. She is worth even more. I can work Without worry and she does the laundry and keeps my hose clean. I could not live without her.
My thought on tipping professional caregivers is, no tipping at all, I would treat the situation like a employee vs employer. If the caregiver goes beyond the usual care-giving one should consider giving a bonus for the extra deed. Same with Holidays, if the caregiver has been employed for some time a Xmas Bonus/Gift should be forthcoming.
I contributed $40 for Patti's daughter to fill a basket. They must have spent more, as there were two baskets that included everything for a big dinner, butter, salad dressing, and pie. Much was in cans in case they cannot use it all immediately. They have limited freezer space.
