yes lung cancer is not only from smoking some people get what they call black lung it is from different chemicals that the person may have worked with for years or mixing the wrong chemicals together and breating it in, although keep in mind it is when you are around that enviroment for years.
My husband and I are both nonsmokers and are not around other people who smoke or go to any smoky environments. He has never worked in an environment around chemicals or fibers that could cause lung cancer. That said, he just had surgery to remove lung cancer in his lower left lobe. It was accidentally caught at Stage 1. Needless to say, we feel very fortunate, but also now know that even nonsmokers can get lung cancer.
I had lung cancer a year ago. The only symptoms was a cough and phelgm that came up, sometimes streaked with blood. I had to really put the pressure on my doctor to listen to me. He finally did, I had a biopsy done and there it was, hiding up near my shoulder area, inside the upper lobe. They took one lobe of my lung as the cancer had grown to the lining, not through it, however. I was lucky, I pushed to get answers.
