Dad Has Lewy Body Dementia
This is my first post but not my first time as a caregiver (Mom died 30yrs ago from cancer. I gave up my job to take care of her while dad worked). Now, it's dad's turn. He has Lewy Body Dementia and Congestive Heart failure. He is currently in a nursing home. He only mumbles doesn't speak. He's refusing to eat. 30 years ago when Mom got sick Hospice did not exist. At what point should I consider Hospice for dad? Is this something that his doctors can advise me on? Thank you in advance for your help.

I am so sorry no one responded to you sooner. I am hoping you received some support and advice that was helpful to you. Just in case someone else reads your post and wants to hear some ideas, here are some suggestions. Not eating is a significant end of life symptom. Your father's doctor should make a referral to Hospice. They will evaluate your dad and let you know if he is eligible. Some people with dementia go on and off hospice care as their condition sometimes rollercoasters and end of life is difficult to predict. Don't wait - it's okay to ask for help as early as you think you need it. Wishing you well.
